Hey guys, my name is Casmira, i'm a 20 year old trained singer that is sick of doing classical solo songs and chorus work in musicals. I'm looking for musicians who might want to start a cover band with me (or maybe join a current one) preferably guitarist, keyboard, bass, drums etc. who pick up music quickly. Cover bands make excellent cash if they're good, and i'd be aiming at chilled at venues to play modern jazz numbers and plenty of upbeat stuff as well. Influences include Tori Amos, U2, Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple, Maria Mena, Beck, RHCP, Coldplay, Bjork, Bowie, Powderfinger, Elton John, etc. I'm very versatile and a uni student, so plenty of time up my sleeves. If you're interested please email me or reply here. |

Hi Casmira, hows your search going? Your list of influences sounds interesting. I'm an experienced drummer, 30 something, have played professionaly (in the past) for ten years.Ive just been playing socially lately but have been keeping an eye out for an interesting live project to get involved in. I know a few bass players & guitarists, but not many keyboard players. Have you considered the backing track option? It takes a little more time to arrange initially but once you have it, it's there forever(or at least until your laptop crashes!). Perhaps not the be all & end all, but a good way to get up & running (& earning cash)relatively quickly until you find the right line up, or band. A combination of both backing track & live musos is a slick option, gets away from being a bit too "karaoke", but the musos have gotta be on the money with timing and song progression. I've got a few resources at my disposal for that approach, but it's not exactly a streamlined process at the mo (new software). I'm a shiftworker through the week but can always find time for a worthwhile project, and my weekends are my own so gigs & rehearsals are the go then for me. All probably TOO MUCH information for a first blurb but there you have it. If you are still looking & interested to know more, feel free to email me. Either way, it'd be cool to hear how you're getting on. Good luck, it is indeed a jungle out there,Cheers, Grant. |
