 Chris James Bio:

From his early interests in trance and funky house to his explosive experimentations in
electro, Chris James brings a unique blend of beats to the Potty Mouth Music roster.
Always eager to push his production to the next level, the Birmingham, UK-native is
unafraid to explore the twisted side of house and inflect it with plenty of pop and
groove.

Launching his career at 15, Chris spread his sound across the Midlands through live,
Internet radio shows. Within one year, Chris was garnering hundreds of fans and hosting
three shows per week, including “Funk’d Up Mondays,” and his monthly “HLE”
showcase (Harder, Lounder & Electronic). Slick mixing and track selection put him on the
club billing radar, as he landed gigs at London’s top clubs including Ministry of Sound
and Turnmills. He has also gone on to hold residencies at ‘If . . .U Want It’ at
Bushwackers, B1 at Chic and Spin at Dragon Eye in Birmingham.

Even before making his EP on new label home Potty Mouth Music, Chris has kept production
pace in the studio. From club-stomping remixes like “Smut” (Venga Digital) to the
more organic reworks of tracks like Suriv’s “Epic Flow” (Roostar Records), Chris
walks a groove-heavy line between the synthetic and soulful sounds that elevate his style
to the next.

When he’s not riding the turns of twisted house, Chris is also working under his techno
alias, Chris Crowther, and enjoying support provided by BBC Radio1’s Pete Tong. His
track ‘Vasco De Gama’ led to a remix project for Miles Dyson, whose
track—“Anthem”—is released as a rerub on Plasmapool.

“My music is definitely forward thinking, innovative and creative as well as making
people move,” Chris says of his evolving sound. “Potty Mouth has a tendency to push
boundaries with their releases and I feel that the music I make fits the bill.”

For his first release on Potty Mouth Music, Chris teams up with colleague Lee Dearn to
craft the “We Can Play EP,” a heady mix of jagged grooves that puts a new twist on
his already signature twisted sound.

 Lee Dearn Bio:

The gritty streets of Birmingham, England put their own gritty stamp on the sound of Lee
Dearn, a producer whose dirty beats drive back to his roots. In combining obscure, cut-up
samples with bouncy, jacked up grooves, Dearn slides in as one of the darkest additions
to
the Potty Mouth Music label.

Since launching his music career at age 17, the producer/DJ has gone on to post a
residency at Release, a night he and fellow producer/Potty Mouth Music label mate Chris
James organized in Birmingham. Soon, the two started collaborating together creatively.
Dearn’s previous label credits include Somatic Sense, The Gallery Turnmills and Bonzai
Limited, where he and James released their seminal anthem, “Santa Eularia.” In
addition to his original tracks, Dearn has collaborated and helmed a number of remix
projects, putting a dark, driving face to Bloc Party’s “So Here We Are” and Scarlet
Harlots’ “In the Garden” (Chris James and Lee Dearn remix).

Dearn’s working class roots continue to shape his hard-nosed sound, with his music
taking influence from techno and trance artists including Jeff Mills, Tiefschwarz,
Stephan Bodzin and James Holden. His hard-wired beats speak to his West Midland
upbringing and a self-sufficient production style that continues to drive him in the
studio and behind the decks. In balancing grit and groove, Dearn melds elements from a
variety of genres, including hip hop, techno, house and even traditional Columbian
music.

His latest release, the “We Can Play” EP with Chris James, marks his first release on
Potty Mouth Music.

 POTTY MOUTH MUSIC (Chicago):
  www.pottymouthmusic.com

Screw soap the mouth; the brand of jack that defines Chicago's new-school house sound
gets a tech-heavy makeover from the talent roster of Potty Mouth Music. Inspired by the
dirty glitch twists of fidget house producers such as Switch, Trevor Loveys and Jesse
Rose, Potty Mouth ditches conventional house boundaries, imploring turntable trickery,
unconventional loops and straight up techno into its catalogue of tracks. Chicago-based
label head James Amato keeps house-heavy influences in place and lacing them with the
kind of dirty glitch that makes it feel so good to be so bad. Potty Mouth's artists
include The Crookers (Italy), Santiago & Bushido (Chicago), HiJack (England), DJ Fame
(New York), The Bulgarian (England), HeavyFeet (UK), Cops & Robbers (Chicago), Electric
Soulside (Belgium), Andy George (UK), Scott Cooper (UK), Mightyfools (Netherlands), Adam
Bozzetto (Australia) + Many more coming soon!
