SlaveOfHardcore you're a dick. Why has it taken you so long to discover ITM when I myself have been checking it out for over a year. Also, if you haven't noticed Trance W. throws in bits and pieces from ITM all the time, including links for pics. Ooooh, and REAL CLUBBING site!!?? Yeah helpful if you live in Briz. But obviously you don't go slaving to the hardcore over there cos' you're too busy writing shit on a Toowoomba message board. Pfft... |

Hi Guys, I am one of the Qld Editors and Moderators of http://www.inthemix.com.au I would just like to confirm that ITM has nothing but respect for the other dance music sites out there, particularly the originals like SPRACI. SRACI and Michael MD have been around for ages (many years) and the site was very much an Australian leader in online dance music discussion. T-Wizz's Toowoomba addition is great. From what I can see, the Toowoomba scene is bursting at the moment. With groovy places like Jordy’s offering deeper leanings and harder clubs like Play covering the harder end of the spectrum, it is great that an online facility exits to provide info and foster communication amongst clubbers and raver. All of the dance music sites have a different place in the scene and I think it is important to appreciate each site for what it does in its respective place. In regard to the photos on ITM… inthemix is staffed virtually entirely of volunteers. The site began with people contributing their perspective of events, be it editorially or pictorially. The photos and reviews of events are one person’s perspective of that event. Whilst we obviously encourage certain things to be covered and consider peoples past work in allocating events, it still remains a personal perspective which means the really is no right or wrong way of doing it. ITM is in many ways a vehicle for people to showcase their perspective of a night out. Regs, Bender |

"1-3 updates a week" - ha ha ha that's a funny one T. Wizz - I dont recall the last time the site was updated that often!!! Perhaps you should have said "1-3 comments posted under many different names on the message board a week" |

Slave, slave, slave, what are you trying to do here? It's hard enough to build or foster a comUnity spirit as it is without one of "our own" deciding to start tearing things apart. Yes ITM is a great site, I'm on there all the time BUT it's very hard to learn anything about what's happening in T-Bar on it, which is why I keep coming back here. Nuf said Lisa Lashes next weekend, Can't wait!!! Maybe Jordy's on Friday? Play on Sat? No I'm not going to Reanimator, (That may well change though) Cheers, Tha Suss. |

S+T=R (Stimulus plus Thought equals Reaction) Minus Thought, equals Over-reaction. Susspect, if one post can cause such a dramatic response, I can see what you mean by a fractured or fragile community. |

> > All of the dance music sites have a different place in the scene > and I think it is important to appreciate each site for what it > does in its respective place. yes .. that is why spraci has always allowed everyone to add their links... (it makes spraci more useful to people when it can also help people to find the other sites!) > In regard to the photos on ITM… inthemix is staffed virtually > entirely of volunteers. "virtually" is a key word here... I have been trying to get more people involved with spraci for years and when I ask around for volunteers I do get quite a few replies but with very few exceptions they just seem to wait to be told to do something (most seem to assume someone is there to magically organise tickets for them to go to an event and review it) and almost nobody offers to organise other volunteers or negotitate with promoters for those mysterious giveaways or do other stuff). It seems pretty obvious to me that at ITM they have a core group able to devote most of their time to promotions and organising volunteers, which means the core group are probably PAID STAFF. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that, but people often seem to expect that without much help or money that SPRACI should be doing the same kind of organising and promotions and then complain that it doesn't happen! SPRACI could have been doing what ITM is doing now if it had more money or industry support. It was moving that way before ITM started but there was no way that spraci could compete with big-budget street promotion on a local level. (ok ITM might not have had the multi-million dollar venture-capital budget of long-gone sites like Tribe, K-Grind, Scape, etc but to do launch parties, print and distribut glossy stickers, advertise in local street press, etc and have people able to devote so much of their time to promotions and recruiting and organising volunteers, etc does require a fair bit more money than spraci ever had) These days it looks to me like the way forward for SPRACI is probably to work together with or syndicate content with other sites (if anyone here is interested in syndication, etc please get in touch with me) and to concentrate on new services and areas of interest not provided/covered by the other sites. (or to look to merge with other sites that can do the stuff I can't do - and provide to them some things they can't do) Lately the focus here has been to become more of an industry data resource and directory for finding not only events but also local sites, promoters, artists, djs, etc anywhere on the planet) and data/content syndication hub for other sites and to continue expanding the overseas areas (check the events listings in areas such as London or New York) and of course the focus on events listings continues (this is what spraci started with back in 1994 and in most areas it is the main thing people that people come to spraci for) > The photos and reviews of events are one person’s perspective of spraci does have a photo gallery and anyone who wants to add photos just tell me your username and I'll give you access to upload to the gallery. (links to the gallery sections only appear in the cities/areas that have photos in them ... http://www.spraci.net/gallery/albums.php) most of the photos in there so far have been contibuted by people in Sydney. > that event. Whilst we obviously encourage certain things to be > covered and consider peoples past work in allocating events, it allocating? |
