I'm noticing some people
are posting coming events on various message boards and not putting them in the
listings.
POSTING EVENTS INFO ON THE MESSAGE BOARDS DOES NOT CREATE A LISTING IN THE EVENTS LISTINGS! If you don't put your event in the listings you will miss out on extra free promotion. (the listings are also used by other websites) If you can find any software that can pull proper events data out of random blurbs please let me know but I have yet to see any AI technology that advanced - SO IF YOU WANT IT IN THE LISTINGS YOU MUST USE THE "ADD EVENT" form! I know it is easier to post a blurb on here than to fill out the event form BUT please remember the following reasons why you SHOULD enter it in the listings: 1. The Event Listings are where people look to find upcoming events! (This should be obvious!) :) 2. Listings appear in order of date and are easy to find when people are looking for something to go to on a certain date. 3. You can edit your listings when the details change. 4. If you add a listing while logged in (you need to register before you can log in) it will appear in your "My Events" allowing easier editing and the ability to send mail to people who have subscribed to receive info about events you have added. 5. SPRACI Listings are also used by other dance music sites and also as a reference for events by community radio stations meaning more publicity for your event. 6. posting on the message board does NOT generate a listing... (unfortunately no software is smart enough to recognise something as an event and to pull out important details from unformatted blurbs!) To generate a listing you need to use the "ADD EVENT" form. 6. Its FREE! 7. The current banner offer: If you enter your event in the listings and put a spraci url on any of your other publicity such as flyers you can have a free banner on spraci for your event in the area/city of the event. To qualify for this you must enter it correctly in the listings and send a banner to me (must be 468*60 pixels gif/jpg) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- More stuff about listings. If its a one-off event DO NOT choose "Recurring event" and please double check dates on ALL event submissions. Do not choose the "Weekly (line-up stays the same)" type unless it is on EVERY WEEK (including this week) If you have submitted a new event, don't add it again as a new event just to make a minor change - go back and EDIT IT. Anyone found attempting to spam the listings with misleading info, non-event-related posts or multiple copies of the same event will go into the "abusers list" and their listings may be deleted. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: you can add events without logging in but if you wish to use "My Events" and the mailing lists you must log in before adding or editing events. Registration: (some reasons to register) 1. you can use "My Events" 2. you can upload flyers/images for your events (or photos for your message board posts, profiles, etc) 3. you can send to the mailing lists for your events. 4. See and edit any messages you posted while logged in in the past 5. Create custom message boards that you can use on your own site. (go to "Webmaster Services" after logging in) 6. Create custom listings you can use on your website or for your own reference using your preferred combinations of categories. (go to "Webmaster Services" after logging in) 7. Profile pages (you have to be registered to create profile pages). 8. You can create your own weblog (and now you can also show your blog entries on your profile) |

Hi~ I've filled out the "Add Event" form for a new party we're throwing, and it's now filed in my "My Events." But I'm not finding it on the events listing pages. The event number is 31102: "Feel the Love" @ Keybar. Am I doing something wrong? Thank you. Erick Sierra NYC |

Hi~ I've filled out the "Add Event" form for a new party we're throwing, and it's now filed in my "My Events." But I'm not finding it on the events listing pages. If its a WEEKLY event, it may take up to a day to appear If its a new weekly event, it only has the day-of-week, not the actual date of the next time its on. A script is run every day which generates the dates for weekly events (the date they are next on based on the day-of-week in the listing) and this also adds the date for new weeklies. Listings are in date order so its only when it has the date that it appears! Other event types should appear in the calendar version of the list8ngs immediately and in the other listings within a few hours. |
