I felt betrayed, dishonored, and unprotected. My father was addicted to all sorts of drugs, had a temper so angry, and hung out with thugs. Never told me he loved me or gave me no hugs. He Beat my mother everyday and everynight. He came home so high, he started the fights. This abuse continued for years, what type of role model was he, whom had three beautiful kids. He took the money and food right out of our mouths, we slept in a Rat and Roach infested apartment bounced up & down on the couch. My mother finally lost it and became mentally ill. She dropped us off at a police station cuz her heart couldn't deal. She remained in a hospital for years hoping her mind would one day heal Until..... I AM INTELLIGENT, I AM TRUSTWORTHY I BLOCK OUT ALL NEGATIVITY TO KEEP MY MIND HEALTHY. I HAVE STARTED FROM THE BOTTOM, AND SLOWLY CRAWLED MY WAY ON TOP. I HAVE ENTERED WOMANHOOD, AND MY JOURNEY IS NONSTOP. A STRONG AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN IS WHAT I HAVE GROWN TO BE. I HAVE CONQUERED ALL FEARS, AND FINALLY FACED REALITY. I HAD TO COME TO TERMS WITH THE INCREASED AMOUNTS OF SUDDEN DEATHS. I DID FEEL EMPTY AT FIRST, AS IF I HAD NOTHING LEFT. BUT NOW IN MY HEART I KNOW THAT MY LOVED ONES ARE AT REST. I HAVE OVERCAME MANY DIFFERENT OBSTACLES IN MY LIFE. GOD HAS GIVEN ME THE STRENGTH I NEED TO GO ON IN MY FLIGHT.
