hey how's everyone doin? um, i just stumbled across this site one day while i was
"studying" to cut a long story short my name's Ben. im a 25 yo guy writing to you all
from UQ at Gatton. im out here studying horses and um, yeah well im nearly finished up.
anyway as you can imagine, contact with the outside world is a little limited at times so
im basically in serach of like minded people to converse with. believe it or not - there
arent too many people out here who realise that:
- hip hop means more than eminem and nelly
- dance means more than "blow my whistle"
- funk has very little to do with jamiroquai
or that country music is not an essential requirement for living in a rural area.
um, yeah which kinda gets a little irritating at times. anyway, to wind things up, im
into a pretty wide range of music. at the expense of my financial wellbeing i have
collected many cd's - which range from grungey stuff from overseas and australia
(although very few of these have made it into the stereo for a long time) REAL hip hop
(J5, the roots, hilltop hoods, culture of kings, straight from the 'art, the beatnuts, de
la soul, soundbombing, lyricist lounge etc) um, breaks (the herbaliser, dj food, RJD2, dj
spooky, skeewiff, katalyst etc)
um funk (mainly compilations such as stone cold funk, james brown's funky people 1 & 2,
africa funk, saturday nite fish fry etc) and most recently ive been getting back into
dance/tech/trance/house through artists such as dimitri from paris, carl cox, and
compilations such as "trancemission" "in house we trust" "triple j mix up" and "global
underground" also i bought a lisa lashes cd on the cheap recently which is quite
impressive. so yup!!!
so much for cutting a long story short huh. im just trying to stay in touch with society
and talk to people who are into the same kinda shit i am basically. coz theres a
deficiency out here and its makin me feel a little flat!!! so (in my best husky phone
girl voice) TALK TO ME!!!! (followed by the obligatory asthmatic breathing of course)
