Ephesian 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
" 'In the pride of your heart
you say, "I am a god;
I sit on the throne of a god
in the heart of the seas."
But you are a man and not a god,
though you think you are as wise as a god.
Ezekiel 28:2
Lucifer "Luci = light - fer = Bearer"
Angel of Light
Brilliant one
Son of the morning
Diabolos "wicked one"
He is the "god of this world." Paul in I Corinthians 4:4, says that the eyes of the
unbelievers have been blinded by the "god of this world."
He became god of this world when the dominion that God had given to Adam was forfeited by
Adam. "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against PRINCIPALITIES, AGAINST
POWERS, AGAINST THE RULERS OF THE DARKNESS OF THIS WORLD, AGAINST SPIRITUAL WICKEDNESS IN
HIGH PLACES." Principalities. The Greek word for here is arche, and can be translated
either "beginning" or "principality."
Can you imagine what Lucifer looked like as he reflected the glory of God at the throne?
The stones are mentioned in Ezekiel 28:13. The sardius is reddish-brown; the topaz is
deep yellow; the diamond is clear and reflects all colors; the beryl is dark red; the
onyx is multicolored; the jasper is blue-green; the sapphire is rich blue; the emerald is
green; the carbuncle is blood red. Lucifer was beautifully arrayed in a rainbow of color
to reflect the outshining glory of the Holy God. In the midst of all this beauty he
surely began to be self-deceived into believing that some of the glory was his own!
It is good to be able to play a musical instrument. How much more majestic to be one!
Lucifer was not only a musician, but he was music in himself. "The workmanships of thy
tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou was created" (Ezekiel
28:13). This was his praise to the God of heaven. This creature of spotless character,
flawless beauty, unceasing praise, unimaginable color, and musical majesty we have
Lucifer before he became Satan. His work of accusation is universal. He will accuse
God to us, us to ourselves, others to us, and us to others. He accuses by inference or
by insinuation. Did you notice how subtle his question to Eve was on the occasion of her
sin and Adam's? "Hath God said? was his approach (Gen. 3:1). Victory implies struggle,
battles, and warfare. Without an enemy there is no victory. We have an enemy, and he
has troops. We also have a commander and allies. The wonderful truth about this war is
that the outcome has already been determined and the gift of victory is already the
personal possession of every child of God. If you are going to fight a war, that is the
kind to fight! Jesus is the victor and has vanquished the foe! The announcement has
already been made and has become reality in heaven. We are set in the world to be the
means by which the Holy Spirit produces in terms of reality in the earth that which is
already true in heaven. There is not even room for a shadow of a doubt as to our
VICTORY. It is ours NOW! In the preincarnate announcement in Isaiah 61, the Messiah
declared, "THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD GOD IS UPON ME; BECAUSE HE HATH ANNOINTED ME TO PREACH
TIDINGS UNTO THE MEEK; HE HATH SENT ME TO BIND UP THE BROKEN HEARTED, TO PROCLAIM LIBERTY
TO THE CAPTIVES." He PROCLAIMS liberty because He has already PROCURED liberty! |
