WNEP Producing Master Class
WHEN: Sunday, July 17 12PM – 4PM
WHERE: TBA
Overview:
The environment in 21st century Chicago is glutted with shows – shows started by someone
with a passion for the new, the untried, or merely the unrequited opportunity. The vast
majority of these shows end on the cairn stone pile of ill-conceived artistic and
financial failures, only being seen by friends and family and lambasted by the critical
press (if the press bothers to see the show at all).
Previous Students have written about the class:
“As someone who has gone to college and graduate school for acting, I can honestly say
that your workshop was one of the best classes I have ever taken on the business side of
putting up a show.”
“If you didn't know how to produce a show, you did coming out of it. It focused on so
many issues that I would have ignored.”
“I think the single greatest thing was the workbook you gave us to take home. Your
teaching was superb, but having a hard copy to follow later when we're all trying to
remember things from the class was awesome.”
The class is four hours in length and will be accompanied by a series of handouts and
templates that have a proven track record. Armed with lectures, worksheets, hands on
exercises and Q&A, no one attending will leave without at least a fundamental working
head start on producing a show with a fighting chance in the jungle known as Chicago
theater.
