 The CMJ/DubSpot Panel lineup:

"Beat Generation"
10/17 @ NYU Kimmel Center
Composers of electronica and hip hop beats are notoriously undervalued, their
musicianship and skill overlooked as tinkering with buttons and knobs. This session
brings the artistry of hip hop and dance production to light with special appearances by
legendary producers from both genres. (Wednesday, Oct. 17th at 4pm) Pete Rock, Stephanie
Douglas (Beat society) & DJ Spinna are confirmed to participate in this panel. Kervyn
Mark will be the moderator.

imperative for DJs to expand beyond the mixer, transforming the art of spinning records
into the art of creating music. This discussion includes a candid look at successful DJs
who have put out singles and albums with a specific focus on the use of vocalists and
musicians and the direct correlation that this evolution has to touring and live shows.
