Polaroid Fame

Announcing their debut single Â'Facing ExtinctionÂ'
and Facing Extinction East-Coast Tour

A recent with Pete Murray in MelbourneÂ's The Age newspaper featured a pic of Â'whatÂ's on Pete MurrayÂ's iPodÂ'. First on the list, just above Credence Clearwater Revival, was a band called The Frankie Band (now Polaroid Fame) Â- with the words Â"Young exciting indie band from the Byron Bay area (of NSW). Â"

Byron Bay quintet Polaroid Fame are proud to announce the release of their debut single Â'Facing ExtinctionÂ' Â- and to celebrate are hitting the bitumen on the Facing Extinction east-coast tour. The tour will see them yo-yoing up and down the eastern seaboard throughout June, July and August.

Whilst Polaroid Fame may hail from the Northern NSW laidback surfing Mecca that is Byron Bay, they are not another acoustic rootsy band singing about the ocean. Their debut single is a driving alternative rock foray that is soaked in a healthy dose of pop alchemy. Â'Facing ExtinctionÂ' highlights the bands depth of hook nuance, yet merely hints at their musical depth. Featuring an anthemic chorus and cluster bomb guitar line, Â'Facing ExtinctionÂ' is a magnificent introduction to the musical wealth that is Polaroid Fame.

This collection of talented musicians is not so easily classified Â- their inventive sound is a fresh and unique offering to the thriving local music scene. The catchy upbeat tunes on their most recent EP Â'Another Place To LiveÂ' offers the listener pop rock hooks and lashings of electric riffs.

Polaroid FameÂ's strong roots were nurtured in the simplest of inceptions. While studying, songwriter and lead singer Frankie met bassist Mitch and the duo formed the core of what was once known as Â'The Frankie BandÂ'. FrankieÂ's childhood friend Damian soon joined on lead guitar as did drummer Chris, and then keyboardist Zoe finally completed the sound. Audiences were listening as the band steadily built their popularity.

Frankie acknowledges that soon after the band formed he discovered a chorus pedal. From a young age, Frankie would often arrive home from school to his mum pumping Â'chorusÂ' drenched Prince and The Police on vinyl until the cops came to shut it down. To Frankie, stumbling across the Chorus pedal was the defining moment when he realised the bands musical direction. A name change ensured, and Polaroid Fame was born.

Polaroid FameÂ's passion and drive has seen the band build a steady fan base in the local music scene, with their music gaining rotation on community and national radio stations. Renowned producer Anthony Lycenko (Pete Murray, The Beautiful Girls, Elvis Costello) produced their last EP Â'Another Place To LiveÂ', and has returned once again to co-produce Polaroid FameÂ's new single Â'Facing ExtinctionÂ'.

Now, with their new single Â'Facing ExtinctionÂ' firmly tucked under their arm, Polaroid Fame are set to colonise the country with their warm-hearted tunes.
