Fashion Means the World an environmentally-friendly fashion fundraiser profiting the Miss Earth Australia Foundation and WWF-Australia
On 6 August 2008, the Fashion Means the World team will be more than ready to rock. In the heart of Melbourne, five eco-friendly fashion designers will come together to create an incredible runway show proving that being environmentally friendly can be sleek & chic. In addition to the feature fashion show, live entertainment including young and talented music acts and DJ’s will be playing throughout the night. Interactive makeup workshops will also keep you entertained, and both live and silent auctions profiting our featured charities give you the chance to score great deals on ethical products while supporting a good cause.
There will be dvd packs, eco-designwear, beauty vouchers, gorgeous lotions and potions, tours and the amazing collector’s edition of John Butler Trio’s Grand National (another copy recently sold at auction for $4000) on offer plus more. Everything’s going to be offered at auction – so it’s anyone’s guess who will bag the biggest bargain! Celebrities who care about an eco-friendly future will be there to support the event.
Miss Earth finalists Claire Radbourne & Lucinda Smedley are passionate about the environment, and passionate about fashion. It made perfect sense for these two dynamic women to collaborate on an eco-fashion charity event to raise funds for the organisations they believe in. The two students (Claire is in her third year of a Bachelor of Laws, whilst Lucinda is combining a medical degree at the University of Melbourne with naturopathy at the Australian College of Natural Medicine) met whilst on duty campaigning for important causes: tree planting and talking at schools, teaching children about our world and why its so important to look after it. Both volunteer for local grassroots organisations, including Greenpeace, Friends of Merri Creek and Conservation Volunteers. Its clear that these two are on track to make a difference to the world we live in.
