Unseen – Hopes and Dreams is an exhibition of the work taken by Sydney photographer Kate Baker, capturing “life affirming” photographic portraits of disadvantaged youths at The Oasis Centre. The resulting collection has now been compiled into a hardcover book, Fridays at Oasis. The organisation, run by the Salvation Army was established to assist youths in crisis and all proceeds of the book will be donated back to the refuge in Surry Hills to provide support for the continuation of their work.

The subjects are the kind of people society usually doesn't notice. Her compelling work turns the spotlight on them for the first time. The book has also given many of the youth involved in this project the opportunity to share their story.

Kate’s work will on display at the Meyer Gallery running from the 1st - 26th of October and the book is available to purchase from www.oasis.salvos.org.au/sydney
