The Hellfire Club in Sydney Australia has been the focus for the local fetish scene for over fifteen years. Growing into some kind of bizarre institution, Hellfire has survived police raids, obscenity trials and seven venue changes before moving to our present home The Gaff (formerly Rogues), in time for our 12th Birthday Bash in April 2005. And my hasn’t time flown, with our 15th Birthday being celebrated in March!
This extraordinary longevity (it’s Sydney’s longest-running club night!) has meant that Hellfire is now known all around the world in fetish circles. The club even tours to regional areas from time to time, visiting Penrith, Newcastle and Darwin in 2002, and Melbourne in 2005. We did our first international tour, to Christchurch New Zealand in November, 2005 to perform at The Fetish Ball; and we’ve recently started doing the odd play party (called Hellfire XS).
Right now we’re on every THIRD friday of the month, 9.30pm-late, at THE GAFF, (rear lane entry) 16-18 Oxford Square, Darlinghurst (that’s right on the corner of Oxford & Riley Streets). Resident DJs: MANDY ROLLINS, LANNY K & MISS YETTI. Perverse performances plus SPECIAL GUESTS. Entry is $25. For more info: webmaster@hellfiresydney.com
Dress Code:
We get loads of enquiries from newcomers about what to wear to Hellfire, so I thought I would elaborate a little on our dress code. For the record, our STRICT dress code is Fetish, Formal or Fancy Dress… or at ‘BARE MINIMUM‘ basic black. We would prefer all patrons to make more effort than basic black, and we reserve the right to refuse you entry in basic black if we have a full house of patrons who are dressed in fetish, fancy dress or formal wear.
Basically we’re saying that we WANT you to dress up. Take a risk. Get a bit OUTSIDE your comfort zone. Why? Because it makes for a more festive, sexier club, and it gives you all a talking point. For example, we’d prefer if you approach a woman to say that you like her outfit, rather than ‘hitting on’ her. Strike up a conversation - see if you have anything in common, before asking that sort of question. I guarantee, this approach is MUCH better received at Hellfire by the women.
