Music/Words is a unique interdisciplinary series created and curated by pianist Inna Faliks. It explores connections between literature and music by presenting collaborations between solo performers and writers in the form of a live recital/reading. New published and unpublished works will be read alongside performances of music old and new on a beautiful Grotrian concert grand. Spontaneity and preparation, improvisation and premeditation, printed text and interpreting the score, atmosphere and color in words and music, coincidence and careful planning - these and other topics will serve as themes for every inspired evening in the cozy Ico Gallery, in the heart of TriBeCa.
Jesse Ball's 1st novel Samedi the Deafness was chosen by the NY Times as Notable Book of the Year. Inna Faliks is renowned for her passion and poetic vision and praised by critics in the US and abroad. She made her debut with the Chicago Symphony at age 15.
This evening will explore improvisation and storytelling in poetry and music.
