BARFLY PROMOTIONS & I-94 BAR PRESENT VOODOO LUST With Special Guests: Johnny Casino & the Secrets + The Intercontinental Playboys
80's Punk/Pop Heavyweights Voodoo Lust return for an exclusive one off re-union show at The Empire Hotel, Annandale on Saturday October 25, 2008.
Voodoo Lust formed in Brisbane late '85. Taking only a few months to release their first single ‘Shake, Shake Hey Yeh!’ Topping the indie charts, Voodoo Lust relocated to Sydney. Heading to Trafalgar Studios for the follow up single ‘Stop Breakin' My Heart’ and the Number 1. Indie spot was repeated. Affectionately known as ‘The Voodoo's’, two mini albums followed. Continuous alternative chart success was backed up by relentless touring, culminating in 1,020 shows in their six year career cementing Voodoo Lust as a live, pub rock favourite.
With a solid headlining fan base combined with numerous supports such as: - Iggy Pop, Wall of Voodoo, Lime Spiders, Painters and Dockers, The Hard Ons, Hoodoo Gurus, The Divinyls, The Johnny's, X, The Sunnyboys, The Screaming Tribesmen, The Hitmen, Spy vs Spy etc. The Voodoo's were invited to be part of several compilation albums including Skate Hard and Minutes to Midnight, including the likes of David Bowie, Ozzy Osborne and The Lime Spiders.
Voodoo Lust disbanded in 1990. Overseas projects followed for members of the band including Tony (houndog) Harper, Phil Jacquet and Brad Ferguson moving to London to form The Upsets. Twelve months of cold weather, bangers and mash and pub gigs, led to an Abbey Road recording session. Visa expiry eminent, the boys returned to Australia.
Gary Slater (lead vocals) joined The Trilobites releasing the album The Lost Generation. Tony Harper (guitar) went on to join The New Christs with Rob Younger from Radio Birdman. Steve King (bass) to Ed Kuepper's Exploding Universe, The Aint’s and The Raoul's with Chris Masuak and Warwick Gilbert from Radio Birdman. Phil Jacquet (drums) is the original Celibate Rifles drummer and plays occasional gigs with The Rifles and The Lime Spiders.
Tickets Available through Moshtix.
