POPFRENZY PARTY

Thursday, 15th January 2009

Venue: Beck's Festival Bar, Hyde Park Barracks Museum, Queens Square, Macquarie Street, Sydney

Tickets: $38 +bf presale

London based three-piece Metronomy have been busy garnering critical acclaim for their frenetically hybrid indie style knitted together with trademark electronics. Band member Joseph Mount's prolific remixing career (including Ladytron, Klaxons, Franz Ferdinand, Sebastien Tellier, Gorillaz, Love Is All and Roots Manuva) and the band's relentless touring have kept Metronomy's name in all the right places of late.

With the robotic frivolity and ironic light show/synchronised routines/occasional dance troupe of their increasingly renowned live shows, Metronomy slot perfectly into the raw, experimental landscape of indie-dance crossover.

Fresh from their recent signing to WARP, Australian trio Pivot bring their edgy, highly innovative blend of post-rock instrumentation to the Bar. Their evocative, multi-layered sound combines dreamy synth patterns and subtle guitar grooves.

Totally Michael has a penchant for pop hooks, a punk ethos and some seriously wacky stage antics. With ammunition of infectious, humorous and feel-good hits he’s ready to top this night of and take the Bar by storm.
