BRITISH INDIA
They exploded onto the Australia pop scene in mid 2007 with their killer debut album 'Guillotine'. British India have toured Australia four times in the past ten months playing over 100 sold out shows. They appeared at the major summer festivals and their songs 'Black & White Radio' 'Run the Red Light' 'Russian Roulette' & 'Tie Up My hands' became air punching anthems at venues and festivals across the country and to top off a busy year they picked up the gong for 'Best independent artist' at the 2007 AIR Awards. Now only twelve months since the release of their debut album BRITISH INDIA are back with album number two, 'Thieves'. Their new single 'I Said I'm Sorry' was immediately added to high rotation on Triple J with the album awarded feature album status on it's week of release. 'Thieves' looks set to surpass its predecessor and further cement British India's reputation as one of the most exciting live indie rock bands in the country. We welcome British India to our very first VROOM 08!
DUKES OF WINDSOR
In support of their brand new album M I N U S, electro-rockers DUKES OF WINDSOR get set to play the inaugural VROOM 2008 festival. With its cool, crisp beats and dark bass lines, Minus often reflects the environment in which it was made. In early 2008, the Dukes spent two months in the frozen Swedish winter with production duo Pelle Henricsson and Eskil Lövström, hence the title of the album. After the success of their first single It’s A War, and with follow-up single Get It making waves around the country, the Dukes are excited to follow up with M I N U S, their second full-length album. Currently playing shows around Australia with electro-pop outfit Sneaky Sound System, and fresh from supports with Sam Sparro and The Music, the Dukes are keen to hit VROOM 2008 to show their own distinctive brand of high-energy music.
BLUEJUICE
Sporting an aggressive, party-oriented mix of rock, hip hop, electro and disco, the five member group is in its element making people dance in a retarded, unselfconscious way. A successful formula thus far, Sydney band BLUEJUICE has scored high rotation Triple J radio play for each of its three releases. Recent single'Vitriol' was the 2nd most played song on Triple J in 2007 and was voted number 11 in the 2007 Hottest 100. Bluejuice have supported major names like The Specials, Jackson Jackson, Dizzee Rascal, Souls of Mischief, Diverse, Gotye and their debut album 'Problems' released independently in August 2007 through MGM, was short-listed for the prestigious 2007 Australian Music Prize. Expect to find down tempo hip hop, ska-tinged pop and pounding disco, all laced with the band's winningly tongue-in-cheek attitude when Bluejuice perform at VROOM 2008!
