Mad Racket invites you to be part of the local finals for 2008, as the Racketeers invite a star pinch-hitter to the plate once more, in a quest for minor glory and major pride. With a truncated club competition this year, players have suffered from a lack of game time, but with a strong showing at the anniversary cup tie, the lads seem set for a strong finish to the season.
The local championship all comes down to this derby round, and the local team has enlisted the prowess of star full-back Peret "Great White Hope" Mako, who has spent a bit of time on the bench until recently. His recent album, "The Devil's In The Detail", plus a few twelves on new label Room To Manoeuvre, have shown that he hasn't lost his touch in front of goal. Peret joins the established squad of Jimmi "Deadly Dimi" James, Ken "Mr Ball Games" Cloud, Zootie "The Gouger" and Simon "The Goose" Caldwell in their grand final showdown.
Mixed sports metaphors are welcome at the Marrickville Bowling Club and Recreation Stadium, as we continue to tweak and prod the Bowl-O-Sonic sound and lights until they twinkle.
