Monday 22nd December sees a night of the best of independent Sydney music at The Vanguard, Newtown, as TVS show SWAA (Songwriters Across Australia) celebrates it’s 2nd Birthday / 100th episode.
The night spans a spectrum of modern music, beginning with the solo blues guitar of Phil Edgeley, leading into the classic rock of Envy Green (ex members of Hush and Swanee) followed by the pop rock of Lindsay Drummond, and finishing with the synth-laced, sci-funk, alterna-pop sounds of Super Massive.
Hosted by Paul McQueen, SWAA is dedicated to independent Australian music and often showcases first-time appearances by emerging artists on community tv and radio.
The 2nd Birthday Christmas Special is a party packed with entertainment and door prizes, with finger food from 7-9pm included in the price of entry. The night is being filmed, with roving cameras and interviews throughout the night.
