Only a very limited UK tour this time around but you can have the pleasure of seeing Nlf3 - one of France's most influential underground bands - in Manchester on Wednesday 3/06/09 at the The Retro Bar, Sackville Street.

The French trio, compared by The Guardian to 'a Radiohead seduced by the idea of live improvisation', released their third album "Ride On A Brand New Time" in 2008 - a sweet series of songs which takes the listener on a voyage through a fantastical and enchanting world of krautrock and sleazy basslines, there are hints of Tortoise, Can and even Gang, Gang Dance. Album stand out tracks are "Several Kinds", "Echotropic" and "MMM What Curse" and the band's live performaces match or even better their studio work and should not be missed.

Veterans of 100s of gigs and festivals throughout Europe the invitations to tour alongside the likes of Battles and Animal Collective - with whom they now have a musical kinship - brought them to the attention of the UK and US music press. Warp reecords invited them to support Gang, Gang Dance and hometown support slots for Holy Fuck and Berg Sans Nipple followed. Solo artists Panda Bear and Avey Tare (Animal Collective) reciprocated by supporting Nlf3.

The individual band members brothers F.lor and Don Nino and friend Mitch have solo careers and have also collaborated with The Dirty Three, Shannon Wright and other artists. Band member F.lor mixed Yann Tierson's soundtrack to that wonderful French feelgood film 'Amelie'.

Highly recommended!
