THE GAME

Wednesday, 5th August 2009

Venue: Metro City, 46 Roe Street, Northbridge

Time: 8pm - 11pm

LA born rapper The Game single-handedly brought the West Coast back when he burst onto the scene with his album, The Documentary, which is considered one of the strongest debut albums in hip hop history. He is also the only West Coast solo artist to release a multi-platinum album since Dr Dres 1999 classic, 2001. With millions of albums sold worldwide, and a reputation as one of hip hops most energetic and explosive performers, his live shows are unmissable. And now, Australian fans will get to see one of hip hops finest when The Game makes his way down under for his LAX Tour 2009.

The Game started his early career studying various influential rap albums by the likes of 2Pac, Biggie, N.W.A and Ice Cube. Having gotten involved in the drug trade after a rough childhood, it took being shot in a home invasion to cause an epiphany in the young man. There was a reason he had been spared. He had never rapped before but was a natural. He absorbed the styles of his favourite rappers and made them his own Biggies clear delivery and breathtaking visuals, Tupacs articulate rage, NWAs dont give a damn attitude, and Ice Cubes ability to balance ghetto politics with gangsta tales and made it all his own. By the time Dr. Dre heard his stuff, he knew he had a star in the making and the streets started talking: The Game was no joke. The buzz was enormous for the release of his debut album The Documentary. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard chart and cemented his status as the hottest thing in hip-hop.

Not that he had much time to enjoy his new found fame and success. The rapper had more beefs than a butcher shop when it came to a number of other rappers, but his massive public fallout with 50 Cent and G-Unit reached epic levels. Though their rivalry stayed musical (through youtube stunts and diss songs), by the time it was all over, The Game left Dr. Dres Aftermath and set himself up on Geffen Records and released his sophomore effort The Doctors Advocate. The album again debuted at Number One on the Billboard Chart and received critical acclaim worldwide.

The Games third album L.A.X was released in 2008 with many claiming this album was in fact his best. Rumours have continued to circulate that this will be The Games last album, but until he hangs it up, he is gonna keep acting (like he did in the recent hit film Street Kings opposite Keanu Reeves), and best believe he is gonna keep rapping. He cant help it. Its in his blood. Its a part of his psyche. His soul.

Dont miss the opportunity to see one of hip hops best performing all his hits, How We Do, Hate It Or Love It, Lets Ride, My Life, Games Pain, Lets Ride, Wouldnt Get Far and many more.

Supported by Xzakt (live) and DJ Slick and Adroc
