TECHnique feat McBean

Fighting the urge to hibernate in this cold cold weather, TECHnique is back with some nice warm techno for a cold winters night. This month we are welcoming the newest member of the TECHnique clan, McBean. 

 Here's the low down on McBean Mike Antonievich aka McBean emerged from a year in Sao Paulo, Brazil with a lifelong infatuation with musica eletronica. Countless hours immersed in underground sound in jungles, bunkers and warehouses was soon balanced with a healthy addiction to collecting vinyl upon return to New Zealand.

The past 5 years have seen McBean play a number of genres from techno and house to booty and breaks regularly at venues in Auckland and the Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. In 2006 Mike returned to South America playing at Euphoria Bar in Santiago, Chile en route to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where he settled for 6 months and held a weekly residency at Clandestino Bar in Copacabana.

Arriving back in New Zealand in 2007 saw McBean’s involvement with the creation of Kinetic at Forte Bar. Kinetic was relocated to Fubar and is still Auckland’s most successful multi-genre club night fusing live music, eclectic dj sets and urban art performances. Later that year came a move to Sydney, Australia where Mike continues to reside playing regularly at clubs, bars and parties across the city.

Playing off both cd and vinyl McBean’s energetic sets incorporate a range of mixing techniques and focus on the latest pressurised funk, percussive minimalism, ghettotronica and future-bass mechanics from around the world.
