“Our sound is catchy, melodic and harsh. Sometimes it’s well thought out, but it can also be spontaneous and loose. Nevertheless our sound is always recognisable as being typical Showtek”
Showtek experienced a meteoric rise to fame between 2007 and 2008, releasing their first artist album “Today is Tomorrow” – a 39 track masterpiece that became a rapid worldwide success; along with continuing to sell out and decimate DJ sets all over the world. The album’s world tour covered America, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and almost every corner in Europe – including club gigs and an array of solo performances. They truly became the ambassadors of the Dutch power-sound!
The Eindhoven based brothers Wouter and Sjoerd Janssen have reached the top after years of blood, sweat and tears. Their stunning live-shows, devastating DJ sets, You Tube clips with more then 2 Million viewers and above all, massive production hits, have led to absolute world domination in the hard dance scene.
Both brothers came from a musical family. They caught the dance music virus at a very early age and soon began to make their own tracks. After three years in the studio they felt they were ready to bring their sound to the world. Wouter has a broad understanding of music and is an exceptional talent on the keyboard; Sjoerd on the other hand understands the club environment to perfection and knows what will go off and what won’t. Together their visions have combined to create an unstoppable force.
Alongside Showtek, the brothers are also the proud owners of Dutch Master Works – a solid platform for their own releases although they have hinted that others may join them in the future. Dance-floor bombs like “FTS” have catapulted the label towards being the best selling in the hard dance world and was recently awarded in the Mix-Mag as “ The World’s premier Number One Hardstyle label”.
And 2009 sees no slowing down for the Dutch brothers – they were crowned Best DJ’s at the Hard Dance Awards and rewarded with a show-stopping Essential Mix on Radio 1.
Seeing and hearing Showtek is a joy to behold – they get no bigger kick than a crowd going nuts to one of their own productions; “even as DJ’s we tend to play a lot of our own work… it’s not that we don’t like other people’s music, but we get a huge kick out of playing our own tracks. It’s a privilege to have a steady and loyal following of people who really are into your music”
Walt Jenssen (NL) Walt Jenssen has running music through his veins instead of blood, one should assume. This internationally acclaimed dj and producer achieved world domination with Showtek together with his brother Sjoerd. He decides around 2002 to have an outlet for his solo work as Walt, and he recently changed his artist name into Walt Jenssen. At the early age of 12 Walt started following piano lessons and four years later he produced his first dancetracks. Walt Jenssen calls himself a true producer, although he’s also known for his stunning dj-sets under the moniker Showtek. Nevertheless it’s Walt’s hope and wish to profile himself more as a solo-artist in the future. “Electronic music has always been special for me, because it enables me to experiment with new sounds and effects. I would call myself a music addict who tries to move musical borders and boundaries. My musical taste is getting more diverse every day and that development is reflected in my music released as Walt Jenssen.”
Walt states that it’s not always easy to combine two different careers. Showtek has first priority, but profiling his emotions through other music projects is something he can’t deny. Walt is known for his work with Showtek, their spin-off Southstylers – Zany, DV8 and Walt - but has worked together with nobody less than Marcel Woods as well. That Walt has become very successful under his own name is proved by the fact that his tracks have been picked up by giants such as Paul van Dyk and Tiësto. He has produced music for various labels like ID&T, Fushion, Silicon and Rytmic, the label that is nowadays the only platform for his musical creativity. “ It’s hard to define my sound as a solo-artist, since it’s so diverse and original. I would call it harder dance with a techy and trancy edge. My background as a pianist makes my music quite melodic. It has always been my goal to progress as a producer and offer the listener a broad musical range.”
Duro (NL) He is not only the hardest artist on the block but he leaves no doubt about it as well. Probably even more famous for his loud vocals Duro packs quite a punch and he is not making any secret about it.
NitrouZ (DMW) 2008 was a very big year for NitrouZ having seen him play at 2 Q Dance events in Holland (X-Qlusive Showtek and DefQon 1) as well getting signed to the highly regarded Dutch Master Works label. Having been the sole Australian to play at both X-Qlusive Sydney and The Sound of Q Dance Tour be sure to catch one of the fastest rising stars in the hardstyle world.
