Every city in the world has distinct pockets of colour, culture and character. London has Covent Garden, Paris has Montmartre, New York has Time Square and out of Brisbane’s many precincts - one stands out from the crowd - Caxton Street - and on Sunday 2 May 2010, Caxton Street will be transformed into Queensland’s biggest street party!

Sixteen years ago, the Caxton Street Festival had humble beginnings with a few little jazz bands and a couple of food tents. Fast forward to 2010 an estimated 12,000 people will be sampling a taste of life in one of Australia’s most historical precincts and treating their palettes to delicious seafood, fine wines and sharing a day under the autumn sun while enjoying the diverse array of musical talent that is sure to keep every festival goer happy – this is how to live it up!
With a long history of supporting talent from home and a far, the 2010 Caxton Street Seafood and Wine Festival takes us on a musical journey across three stages with something for everyone! Recent ARIA hall of fame inductees Mental As Anything will lead a mighty line up into this year’s festival with hometown favourites Butterfingers and hip hop extraordinaire Urthboy headlining alongside.

Gracing the stage are Australian music legends Robbie James (GANGgajang), Peter Cupples (Stylus) and The Brewster Brothers (Founding members of The Angels), Australian Idols, Casey Barnes and Dan England add their flavor to the festival while local music icons Skritch and Family Of Strangers (Feat. Glenn Ashley), indie darling’s Diana Anaid and Candice Long and folk band Belle Roscoe – fresh from their performance at the Cannes film festival (France) – all add a touch of class. Australia’s leading commercial Dj JimmyZ and his 4play Dj’s will unleash everyone’s favourite tracks and more, while Horrorshow and Obama Anecdote 1 (featuring Joel Turner) are set to sizzle the stage with some home grown theatrical hip hop. And it wouldn’t be a festival without Powerplay playing everyone’s beloved tunes. Keeping with Caxton Street tradition, music from across the globe will again feature with calypso Afro beat masters, Afrodiza, Latin groove artists Revolucion, and Queensland’s own reggae funk specialists Chocolate Strings keeping everyone’s feet moving and hips shaking long into the night!

Also appearing will be a bevy of exciting young bands from across the country. Byron Bay rockers Very Unique Existence, new-age dance five piece The Belligerents, pop rock fiends The Dashounds and funk – fusion psychedelics The Kidney Thieves will all be making their mark.

When the festival stops, the party just begins! With after parties in all venues across the street featuring Dj’s and live entertainment! Make 2010 your year to party and live it up on Caxton!
This is YOUR Street, Queensland; celebrate music, mates, mouth watering seafood, fine wine and a whole lot of fun on Caxton Street on Sunday 2 May 2010. Tickets for the Festival will go on sale through Moshtix from 24 February 2010 and can be purchased through our website -www.caxtonstseafoodandwinefestival.com
