Monolake will be performing live twice at this party, which has been especially designed so you can experience both sides of his production. From 8pm till midnight, Monolake will be joined by some of Australia's finest experimental musicians playing live including ~ Steve Law, Paul Abad (Qld), Andrew Barrie, Mark Harwood, Lost Time Accident and Sense and DJ Ginger Martini will hold the musical baton between acts.
From midnight onwards let the dancing begin!
Following Steve Laws funky dubbed up tekkers and the irresistible electric B(if)tek live - Monolake will play a second live set of deepest minimal dancefloor tek. Then DJs Mit (Dark Network), Midget Fidget and Avon (Deep Chord), Team Slap and bags will do what they do best and keep the funky, clicky, driving, devastating minimal sound flowin' till dawn.
If this pleasure overload were not enough, we have some of Australia's finest VJs including Cicada and mandala to balance out the audio scintillation with visual stimulation!
Also we will offer finger food by the Irene Kitchen... those of you in for the long haul may be saved by the sumptuous nibblies on offer, and Cloak room facilities will be available on the night.
MONOLAKE BIO: Berlin's Monolake have been releasing music since the mid 1990's, starting out on the seminal labels Basic Channel and Chain Reaction.
Originally a duo with Gerhard Behles, musically Monolake is now the solo project of Robert Henke. Released on 'Imbalance Computer Music', Monolake epitomises the current generation of electronic music producers, for whom customised software development forms an integral part of the creative process.
Recent projects in this vein include the development, along with Gerhard Behles and others, of the highly popular performance software Ableton Live, the writing of custom patches in Cycling 74s? max/msp which can be downloaded freely from the website as well as contributions to the development of the Native Instruments? modular softsynth Reaktor.
The Monolake sound is influenced by dub, deep minimal techno and electro, spacious, oceanic soundscapes and the sophisticated sound design of academic computer music. Monolake succeeds in seamlessly integrating these elements, creating a unique sound that's digital, immersive, organic and relentless.
In Melbourne Monolake will be performing two sets at The Public Office on Saturday December 20th. The early set will showcase the abstract side of Monolake as realised in projects such as Floating Point and Piercing Music, and the late set will seriously funk it up.
