Hi, I'm Scott. I host POPULAR every Wednesday at the Necto. I play records and sometimes other people play records too. Some of those other people have been Carlos Souffront for his last week of the month residency, Ken Ishii, Ben Wu, Jonnie O., Carolina, Scott C., Adam Virga and we had a Ghostly International fundraiser event for the Ann Arbor Film Festival.
It's an anything goes type of night with Jell-O wrestling, drinking, laughing, singing, and dancing around like morons to music that exists on the fringe of what you've experienced before. Disco Punk, Electro, No Wave, New Romantic, Italo, Micro House, Minimal Techno, New Wave, Industrial, IDM, EBM and more are part of the soundtrack. Mixing is not near as important as the art of choosing the right records, although the ability to mix an eclectic set is highly respected.
