Drawing on a rich well of influences from Sufi and shamanic African trance music, Irish and Eastern European folk music, to Steve Reich and Philip Glass and more contemporary electronica influences, Mammal Hands’ music is built around deceptively simple sounding ideas that are lent power through the use of repetition and rhythmic loops. Signed to Gondwana Records, and winning fans from everyone from Bonobo and Gilles Peterson to Jamie Cullum, they have been favourably compared to label stablemates Portico Quartet and GoGo Penguin. Touring on back of new album Shadow Work, expect a memorable night in the company of this fabulously talented trio.
