Join us on January 1st in the Domain as we welcome the new year with sunshine, music, friends and good times. Where else would you want to be? Start the year here.

ROGER SANCHEZ
This cat in the hat knows where it's at on the wax, having been in the game since he was Strictly Rhythm - and is still married to the 1s and 2s, with numerous residencies around the world. Smash hit ‘Another Chance' from debut album ‘First Contact' propelled Roger to superstardom where he set up his own labels and started the vital ‘Release Yourself' mix album project, currently up to it's 4th release. With new album tracks from his talent-spotting label Stealth to jam and a history of dropping the juiciest floor-filling monsters, you can count on the S-man to deliver the goods!

DERRICK CARTER
When it comes to get-down ass-shakin’ boompty-boomp house this man is the business. His career in deep house took off around ten years ago and has never stopped rising. Derrick's sound is rainbow funk with flavours of disco, samba, swing, tech and jazz swirled into a groovalicious house scoop. Since his 2002 album ‘Squaredancing in a Roundhouse' DC has been running his labels Blue Cucaracha and of course the indispensable Classic. On the decks Derrick exudes a positive vibe that's downright contagious while he blasts you with filthy infectious rhythms and turntable mastery.

BOB SINCLAR
King of the disco dance floor, Mr Sinclar's électronique super-production has refinined nostalgia into sensuous homage on such floor-fillers as the glittering ‘I Feel For You’, ‘The Beat Goes On’, ‘The Ghetto’ and sultry number ‘Kiss My Eyes’. Under Yellow Productions he produced the influential Africanism project, featuring Martin Solveig, Eddie Amador, Liquid People and DJ Gregory and creating percussive Latin and jazz rich collections, once again giving house music a different twist. His sets swerve from classic to rare to cutting-edge seduction. Retro-fabulous, breathless feel-good music, take heed from his motto ‘And you must make dance ze people’.

KRAFTY KUTS + TC IZLAM
Krafty Kuts is back – with a difference. This time he will be performing some of his huge hits with the unstoppable man on the mic TC Izlam, bringing to life favourites ‘Ill Type Sound’, ‘Come Alive’ and ‘Tricka Technology’ plus some brand new tracks. One of Australia’s best loved DJs, for his sets comprising party hip hop, revving funk breaks and booming basslines and his incredible benchmark mix CDs such as ‘Fuzzy Breaks vol 1’, ‘Slam the Breaks On’ and ‘These Are The Breaks’, this is one show of deck-sterity you don’t want to miss. Danger! Set the fire warning to high and watch the sparks fly.

STEREO MCs LIVE
Stereo MCs were icons of the ‘90s with their laid back blend of hip-hop, funk and indie – album ‘Connected’ sold more than 1.5million copies, produced the title single and hits ‘Step It Up’, and ‘Ground Level’, then they supported Happy Mondays and U2 on tour. Fast forward to 2005 and new work ‘Paradise’ is catapulting them back into the spotlight, sidestepping the pigeonholes as usual. Crisp beats, throbbing bass, brass, keys, and Rob’s unique vocal style come together for another triumph. Add a pinch of playfulness and a spoonful of soul, and you’ve got the warmest electronic-rap-funked-up eclectic boogaloo, coming to you in an extremely impressive live show.

EVIL NINE
Fixtures on Adam Freeland’s Marine Parade label, Evil Nine laid their aces down with the release of crucial debut album 'You Can Be Special Too'. With a multitude of influences from punked-up ragga and acoustic indie drums to techno territory the underlying recipe is originality and eclecticism, interfacing breaks with rock and hip-hop, as heard on lead single ‘Crooked’ featuring Aesop Rock. Snarly bass, bouncing breakbeats and head rocking hip-hop swagger served up with aplomb.

TIEFSCHWARZ
Germany’s electronic funk brothers Ali & Basti Schwarz released debut album 'Ral 9005' and singles ‘Thru A Little Window’, ‘Hello Again’ and ‘Acid Soul’ on the Classic label to critical and dancefloor acclaim. Heads were turned by their bright, energetic and soulful take on tech house, taking it somewhere more emotional and captivating through meaningful lyrics and hooky basslines. Mix comp Misch Masch and genre-defining remixes like Spektrum’s ‘Kinda New’ pushed them to the forefront of the electro revolution, as does second album ‘Eat Books’ and single ‘Ghost Track’.

STANTON WARRIORS (DOMINIC B)
The Stanton Warriors established their place in the breaks scene with original killers ‘Da Virus’ and ‘Da Antidote’ on Tayo’s Mob Recordings and remix-wise Basement Jaxx, Missy Elliot, Azzido Da Bass and Apollo 440. Mark Yardley & Dominic B took elements of UK garage and fused it with house, hip hop, electro and funk. The duo set up their own imprint, Punk Music, dropping bombs such as ‘Adventures in Success’, ‘Slanty’, ‘Jiggle Dat’ and a few cheeky reworkings. While Mark is concentrating on studio work these days, DJ Dominic B is once again coming to Australia to tear up the turf at Field Day with elastic breaks and basslines from their seriously essential new album.

THE GLIMMERS
The Glimmers’ star is ascending fast due to adventurous programming of seminal mix albums for the Eskimo label, their awesome DJ Kicks contribution, and re-edits under pseudonym Dirty Minds. With no regard for era or genre yet skilled at seamless mixing, their concoction of punk funk, vintage acid house, disco-tech, sleazy pop and nu wave sounds is effortlessly cool yet humorously camp, as heard on last years release ‘The Glimmers Remixed, Re-edited And Phucked Up’. Fun, fresh and quirkily eclectic these ‘twins’ have all the ingredients for a good time.

SOUL OF MAN
Highly revered breaks label Finger Lickin’ continues to go from strength to strength, and amazingly the 2 puppet masters pulling the strings known as Soul of Man still found time to celebrate the label’s 5th birthday with the 50th release ‘Shake Em Down’, put together a Y4K called ‘Breakin In The House’, mix the brand new label compilation ‘We Love It’, continue work on their upcoming album and DJ from Poland to Ibiza. Masterfully tweaking house and funk into their breaks, this is one dastardly duo who know how to rock a party… It wouldn’t be Field Day without a bit of Fingerlickin’ flavour!

INFUSION
Accolades? Infusion have plenty. Crowned by the SMH as "Australia's best live act", their second album 'Six Feet Above Yesterday' named one of the Top 50 Albums of 2005 in Rolling Stone, asked to co-produce Adam Freeland’s album and collaborate with Junkie XL, given the green light to remix The Cure… there’s no doubt that this Aussie crew are storming the world stage with their tight production, smart lyrics and fierce basslines as heard on 'Girls Can Be Cruel' and 'Natural', and of course their knockout, impassioned live sets. They’ll be appearing in full 5 piece band mode at Field Day.

SWIRL PEOPLE (DJ SET)
Best known for their sleeper hit ‘Special Combo’, Belgium’s biggest house project pull off that rare feat of producing tracks that work well on both dancefloors and sofas. Formed back in ‘97 SP have since had over 50 singles and remixes released on various labels including Music For Freaks and Panhandle. From first album 'Hi Mom, Let’s Dance' they established their sound of live jazz-based deep house rhythms peppered with broken beats and stylish vocal collaborations. The DJ of the outfit, Raoul Belmans, will be gracing the Field Day decks with his flow of double-bass lines, saxophone licks and driving grooves.

DJ FORMAT
Roll up, roll up for some marvellous medicine and paaarteee hip-hop from the British B-Boy whose albums have featured such luminaries as Chali 2Na and Akil from Jurassic 5. Format’s breakthrough debut 'Music For The Mature B-Boy' was a word of mouth coup. The 'Ill Culinary Behaviour' EP further spread the vibes before happening 2nd album 'If You Can't Join Em, Beat Em', featuring MC Abdominal and D-Sisive, whose novel offbeat raps steer clear of tired territory. Check the mad chef dropping dope instrumentals and funk jams with an explosive flavour. .
