Melt! Festival

18th July 2008 - 20th July 2008

Venue: Ferropolis peninsula

Liebe Freunde des Melt! Festivals,
Klub Partys. Außerdem: Der Soundtrack zum Festival steht. Die Melt! Compilation Volume 4 steht ab dem 4. Juli in den Läden. Kann man sich also gut merken.

ERLEND ØYE FEAT. KAKKMADDAFAKKA

VIVA CON MELT!
Melt! unterstützt in diesem Jahr erstmals Viva con Agua.

Dear Colleagues, dear Friends of Melt! Festival,

Only about 30 days to go until the hottest festival of the season! The line-up is complete and the running order finalised. Last to be added to the bill are Jape and Kakkmaddafakka from Bergen, home of Erlend Øye and other illustrious ensembles. Kakkmaddafakka secured the opening slot in the Melt!Klub on the Saturday through our band application platform Sonicbids. Look forward to the latest news and new Melt!Klub parties! Plus: the festival soundtrack is good to go - Melt! Compilation Volume 4 will be in shops from 4th July. That’s an easy one to remember.

ERLEND ØYE FEAT. KAKKMADDAFAKKA

You’ll have heard of Erlend Øye as one half of Kings of Convenience, and as the vocalist for German band The Whitest Boy Alive. You’ll also have heard of him a solo artist. And it’s in that capacity that he’ll be hooking up with his Norwegian compatriots Kakkmaddafakka this year. These guys make a racket to rival a rave, and they do it entirely without electro elements. Trash meets 60s, pop, punk and even ska. They are our Sonicbids discovery. Sonicbids.com is a platform for young bands that helps new artists get gigs at large festivals. Kakkmaddafakka, the band with quite possibly the best band name and the biggest party factor, is the new discovery at this year’s Melt!

JAPE

Whoever thought this one man act from Ireland just boils down to quiet folk songs will definitely be proven wrong. Jape is a successful balance act between soft acoustic tunes and catchy pop songs. His single "Floating" has been remixed multiple times and provokes nothing less than the irresistible urge to dance. Of course, it’s understood that this undeniable fact can be applied to Jape’s other songs.

MELT! RUNNING ORDER

What day are the Editors playing, and is the Sunday really worth it? Do Franz Ferdinand and Lightspeed Champion’s sets overlap, and who’s closing the Gemini Stage on Saturday? At last, all these questions are answered – this year’s running order is finally online!

And that’s not all: Our revolutionary planning tool will make your Melt! weekend perfect. Just select your favourite bands, and the tool will create an individual schedule containing all the information you need. You can access this service at www.meltfestival.de/runningorder

VIVA CON MELT!

Melt! is supporting Viva con Agua for the first time this year. In collaboration with Deutsche Welthungerhilfe, this charitable organisation supplies people in crisis areas with clean drinking water. The organisation has been trekking from festival to festival for years to raise money for its activities, and this year they will also be joining us at Melt!. No more queuing to return your beaker – simply donate and transform your alcohol intake into a good deed. Viva con Agua will collect and return the beakers, and the deposit goes towards funding their work.
