The Major and the Minor (1942) Director - Billy Wilder Cast - Ginger Rogers, Ray Milland, Rita Johnson, Robert Benchley, Diana Lyn. Director Wilder and writer Brackett team up for the first of a long line of successes. Yes, it's pure fluff, but elevated by the skill of this great team providing the cast with ample opportunity to shine. Rogers plays the girl who wants to get back home to the country but doesn't have enough money so dresses up as a 12 year old to get half fare. The laughs and funny situations continue on from here.

Cine-Retro Film Society's big screen evenings will transport you to a bygone era in picture-going!
This time of narrative sound films from the 1920's to the 1950's was a world of atmosphere,
fantasy, glamour and intrigue - an age of screen heroes and heroines that were idolized by millions.
This was a period of a gargantuan volume of production particularly in America and Britain,
when cinema was king as an entertainment medium.
The Society was established in early 2003 with our opening gala in July of that year in Rosalie Hall.
We commenced evenings in our present venue in January 2005
We aim to foster an appreciation of western narrative film in presenting this genre in it's original big screen format
in an atmosphere that is fun, relaxed and friendly.
