Announcing the release of her debut EP ‘Modern Love’ & East Coast Tour dates
"Where Is Modern Love?"
Take some PJ Harvey, Joan as Policewoman, Beth Orton and the Black Keys, arm it with a ’78 Gibson Les Paul and occasional loop pedal - and you’re starting to get the Tammy Ingram picture. Tammy takes the classic singer/songwriter sound and rubs its face in the dirt.
Tammy’s four track debut EP ‘Modern Love’ treks the borders of alternative music through Indie Folk ‘n’ Roll, rock grit and lavish pop. It’s this ‘thrust through’ chemistry that has Tammy quickly establishing herself as one of Australia’s favourite female artists.
The EP foundations were laid in the jungles of Belize, a tiny Central American country south of Mexico. It was here that the seeds were planted for ‘Song For New York’, before the track was fleshed in the same city that lends its name to the song.
Tammy: “I am sure you can hear Howler Monkeys in the background of the demos.”
Following a month in Cuba and a stint in Europe, a successful “one-night amorous encounter” led to the penning of title track ‘Modern Love’ in a Sydney park where “passers by didn't know whether to throw coins at me or not”.
Yet whilst ‘Modern Love’ stands as Tammy Ingram’s first solo release, she is no debutant on the Australian music scene. In her previous life, the Sydney songstress was the lead vocalist & songwriter with Ezmerelda – their album ‘11:11’ and EP ‘Welcome to Our Planet’ earning widespread support from triple j and community radio.
Solo performances alongside Kate Miller-Heidke, Bernie Hayes, Leroy Lee, Renny Field, The Falls, + heaps more have ensured a steadily growing profile, with ‘Modern Love’ set to break her out of the shadows and onto a stage near you.
