UBER LINGUA

Thursday 15th May 2008

Venue: Laundry, 50 Johnston St, Fitzroy

Tickets: free entry

RRR presenter Jacinta starts the night with something quite
different to what she does on radio, exploring the world of multi-lingual
female vocalists... "Pyranja, Mala Rodriguez, Fiva, Mazy" are some of her
faves... "sounds from Germany, Japan, France, Italy, South Africa and
beyond."

Argentinean DJ duo 'The Palacio Brothers' are DJ Mono + MC Hernan. This
combination equals "Fiesta... From Tango to Cumbia, via the slams of Buenos
Aires"

Tri-lingual DJ Sakamoiz (AKA Saka la mois) is a post-Swiss pseudo-Mexican
ex-Tasmanian rogue, and his nomadic lifestyle benefits one of the planet's
most sonically eclectic and linguistically diverse music collections. Expect
his recent Sombrero wearing Cumbia obsession, reinvigorated by the Uber
Lingua DJ tour of Mexico in 2007, to dominate his music selection.

RRR music co-ordinator Simon Winkler is also known as 'Zaibatsu' when DJing.
He has many musical interests but one is highly culture charged electronic
urban dancehall and the like coming out of the third world...
Uber resident VJ Siadatz (pronounced sy-ah-dats) is back doin what he does
best.. culture jamming gathered and found moving imagery from around the
globe and delicately illustrated graphics he does himself...
