CHASE THE SUN – The Empire Strikes Back

After six months of constant touring, blues-rock sensations Chase The Sun are coming home to roost with a residency at The Empire Hotel, the ancestral home of Sydney blues.

On the first three Thursdays in June, Chase The Sun will hold court at The Empire in Annandale, accompanied by an array of talented artists with whom they’ve struck a chord during their time on the road, including Cass Eager, The Sins, Tammy Ingram, Halengray, The Favourites and Dwaine Cameron.

Chase The Sun arrived on the Blues and Roots scene with a bang by winning the recent Australian Blues Award for “Best Blues Group” and best song for “You Gotta Go’ from their self-titled debut album. Tracks from the album are featured on Blues radio programs all over the world and the band has also established themselves as a must-see live act through an increasingly hectic touring schedule in venues and at festivals up and down the east coast. From the powerhouse live delivery of guitar star-on-the-rise Jan Rynsaardt, to the soul-tinged song writing, combined with elements of old-school acoustic blues, Stevie Ray Vaughn boogie, hillbilly finger picking and Hendrix flash; this three-piece crank out a new take on a classic sound. The word on Chase The Sun is spreading rapidly.

“…there are very few groups that can put together a record that is as consistently strong on all tracks. Expect big things from Chase The Sun.”
Styx Magazine – December 2007
