Via her album, Fireproof, and the single, Bodyguard, Kentucky native Dawn Landes is proving to be more than just someone to watch. An astonishing mix of the urban & the rural, this definitely isn 't the sound of yet another singer-guitarist plucked from the nearest coffee house and plonked down in front of a microphone. Having worked as a recording engineer for the likes of Ryan Adams & Phillip Glass, Landes is more than familiar with the ins and outs of the studio and has delivered a lovingly crafted and beautifully textured album that melds folk, country & indie without contradiction. The synergy of lulling acoustic guitar, softly strummed banjo & mandolin, and plenty of spooky paraphernalia, along with Landes's gorgeous voice, combine to deliver a record of delicious, ghostly wonder.
After touring overseas markets as a guest of the likes of Jose Gonzalez, Suzanne Vega, Midlake, Shannon Wright, Feist and Andrew Bird, Dawn Landes visits Australia for the first time this July for two shows only.
