Venue: The Basement

12 piece party explosion The Bakery hit the Basement to launch their long awaited debut mini album: 'The Bakery and The Beast '. After bursting onto the Sydney music scene in late 2006, The Bakery have quickly developed an infamous live reputation, packing out venues, and delighting crowds with their wild, exuberant shows. Their sound is a sweet and fizzy kick in the pants. Warm, funky, soulful and spicy. "Neo-orgasmic-soul-funk-jungle-party-core ". It's up-beat, it 'll make you move, it 'll excite your feet and delight your brain.

The Bakery experience is much more than just a gig - it's a full-on show, a party, a wild hedonistic ass-shaking celebration. Whether it's a renegade street performance, or a New Years eve show at Peats Ridge Festival, The Bakery's crazy onstage antics, flamboyantly absurd costumes, and contagious energy keep crowds hooked till the very last beat.

The many members of The Bakery represent a cross section of Sydney's underground musical talent. Hailing from many ends of the musical spectrum; funk, soul, jazz, rock... these talented musicians join forces to form this powerhouse 'party-core ' 12 piece. The band is fronted by 2 lovely lady divas, Emily Collins and Rosie Henshaw, whose delicate and powerful vocals will mesmerize you, draw you in and then set you on fire, over and over again. Behind them is a huge blasting six-strong horn section, psychedelic keys, crunching guitar, and the inimitable rumblings of The Bakery rhythm section, laying down fat beats and smooth grooves. The Bakery are truly big in both size and sound.

This launch show will showcase The Bakery at its very best. Expect outrageous costumes, sassy dancers, extreme acts of joy, a whole lot of dancing and a bevy of special surprises. This show is definitely not to be missed.

The Phonies are masters of that funky, cruisy hip hop sound. A strong cocktail on a sunny beach. Fat beats and smooth tones fronted by the unmatchable vocal stylings of Joel Rappaport.

"Brian Campeau is to a guitar what a Thai stripper is to a ping pong ball, both utilising their instruments in the most unconventional ways. It's impossible to divert your attention from the performance on stage, fascinated by an act you never thought humanly possible. One might be forgiven for thinking Brian has confused his guitar with a piano, or a typewriter, or a cheese grater, or maybe a Thai stripper. But you won 't hear anyone correcting him. His style lends itself to an intriguing, unconventional sound that turns your average song upside down and around into a masterpiece. " (The Sandwich Club)
