| SLIPMATT - THE BIOGRAPHY
Slipmatt is a dance music legend, an innovator of the beat.
In 1985 he began playing hip-hop, before long he discovered the essence of acid house, playing various venues throughout London.
1989 was a remarkable year, not only did he set up pirate radio station Raw FM, play the first ever Raindance (one of the earliest raves in the UK), it was also the birth of his seminal rave act SL2. Slipmatt and long-term friend Lime drew on their acid house reggae and hip hop influences to put out their first EP, 'Do That Dance'. The EP was so successful it paved the way for the massive 'DJs Take Control / Way In My Brain' which stormed to number 11 in the national charts.
In 1992 they released rave classic 'On A Ragga Tip', which crashed into the national Top Ten. By 1993, Slipmatt began a hectic DJing schedule that saw him selling out clubs across the UK, Europe and the rest of the world. His style became more furious and he began playing hardcore as his first preference. In his usual manner Slipmatt took hardcore to levels it had never seen before, the press loved to hate it, the public hated to love it.
The last five years have seen Slipmatt move further and further away from his hardcore roots. His style began to revert back to his first love, house music, pulling together trance and funkier elements. In 1996 he took up residency at The Aquarium, London, where his career took a new turn. Many people still recognize him from the phenomenal success that the hardcore scene brought him, but the last few years have seen him established as a respected house music DJ, winning over both old and new fans with each appearance.
Since the renaissance of old skool house, Slipmatt's diary has never been busier, with numerous tours lined up in the UK, USA, Australia and Ireland. Matt has also rekindled his production relationship with Lime, were they will be releasing some classic tracks with remixes, plus some new material to show how their musical tastes have aspired.
16 years and still Slipmatt remains a name at the forefront of the music industry. Life doesn't get any better.
