Our author event program has moved to a new home with a new format. Not only will be bringing you some great new authors, in a much more intimate surrounding, from time to time we'll also bring you both established and hot new artists.

Authors+Artists+You will now be presented at The Wilson Street Gallery, Unit 5, 30-34 Wilson Street Newtown NSW 2042
In its second year of operation Wilson Street Gallery will continue to position itself as a quality contemporary gallery in a vibrant cultural precinct. We are motivated by the success of many of our artists this year " Graham Kuo, Ben Hall, Hanna Kay, Michael Keighery and still relishing the delights of Asher Bilus installation in November.

2008 will bring a fresh suite of exhibitions, as we establish our position as a serious new player in the art market. We will bring seasoned artists of the highest calibre to our exhibition space. Artists such as Bill Brown and Michelle Collocott, whose lights shone brightly in the 70s 80s and 90s, re-emerge with works of astounding power. Their life experience, intense and at times self-destructive, have not snuffed out their creative passion - quite the contrary. They are now producing work which places them in the company of those who may be regarded as the next generation of Australian masters.

They are joined by artists such as Chris Gentle, Bronwyn Bancroft, Manne Schulze, Robyn Gordon, Michelle Brouet and Heather Ellyard from Melbourne - artists whose skills and intellectual depth reflect their dedication over decades. They will treat us to work of great beauty and serious intent.

This is a gallery which respects those who, over many years, have submerged their lives into their passion " art. But we are excited by new blood. This year we showcase three new artists. Two photographers, Maria Christou and the young Carla Feltham from Newcastle are each creating a very different relationship with the camera . And James Blackwell, whose gentle sculptural and relief work we have tasted in two group environments, returns with his first solo exhibition.

Beyond the artist there is the medium. While paint will dominate in 2008, two photographic shows and mixed media will also feature. We remain committed to works on paper, and our Black and White compendium in May/June will showcase works from our own artists and selected guests. In November we indulge one of our other fancies - Abstractions will be a glorious display of this, one of the most difficult but intensely satisfying of styles.
