| Can a Tibetan Monks walk away with a Grammy this year? Spirit
Music certainly hopes so. Spirit Music of Boulder, Colorado is
proud to announce that "TIBETAN MASTER CHANTS" by Lama Tashi, a
CD that was produced and engineered by Healing Sounds pioneer
Jonathan Goldman, has been nominated in the "Best Traditional
World Music" category for the 48th Annual Grammy Awards being
held in Los Angeles, February 8, 2006.
Lama Tashi, a Tibetan Buddhist Monk, has been principle Chant
Master of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama's Drepung Loseling
Monastery of India. He has the ability of creating amazingly
deep sounds with his voice, producing multiple overtones as he
chants-an ancient and sacred Tibetan technique that gives the
impression of several people simultaneously chanting.
The nominated album, "TIBETAN MASTER CHANTS", comprises 12
popular mantras or religious hymns of Tibetan Buddhism,
including "Om Mani Padme Hum". It featuring the sacred deep
voice chanting of Lama Tashi, one of the World's foremost
Tibetan chant masters.
"TIBETAN MASTER CHANTS" has been produced by the founder and
director of Sound Healers Association, Jonathan Goldman, an
award winning artist himself and author of HEALING SOUNDS. The
album was created to provide profound listening pleasure as well
as vibrational shifts in the listener in order to draw people
towards sacred Tibetan mantras. There is a specific order and
function for each of the chants in the album to assist personal
and planetary consciousness.
According to the United News of India: "Lama Tashi's voice is
amazingly powerful and deeply resonant, creating extraordinary
harmonics. At times, his voice is multi-tracked and the
recording sounds like a monastery full of Tibetan Chant Masters.
This is a remarkable recording that will benefit anyone's sacred
music collection," a senior Tibetan government official said.
Plans are currently being made for Lama Tashi to travel from the
remote regions of the Himalayas in India to join the activities
at the 48th annual Grammy Awards, being held in Los Angeles, on
February 8, 2006. Perhaps, along with rubbing shoulders with
the likes of Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Sheryl Crow, U2,
Bruce Springsteen, and Eric Clapton, Lama Tashi, a humble
Tibetan Monk, will walk away with a Grammy in the "Best
Traditional World Music" category.

"Over the past several years, larger numbers of meditative chant
CDs have made their way onto music store shelves. But TIBETAN
MASTER CHANTS is a truly unique musical offering. TIBETAN MASTER
CHANTS features another collaboration between Jonathan Goldman,
known for his research on healing through sound, and Lama Tashi,
Principal Chant Master at the Dalai Lama's Drepung Loseling
Monastery in India. Lama Tashi is a master of his craft and this
CD is a fine tribute to his work and the Tibetan meditative
tradition he is helping to preserve. Fascinating for its vocal
qualities and its effect on both the mind and body, TIBETAN
MASTER CHANTS is An excellent choice for meditation, yoga, or
just as background music." Richard Mackenzie, Mysteries
