You would be hard pressed to find an Australian group who has had more impact on the Australian Hip Hop scene than one of its founding (and most highly recognised) crews, Def Wish Cast. From the East Coast to the West and down to Adelaide and beyond, Def Wish Cast have had a profound effect on everyone who has listened to their music and their album Knights of the Underground Table (1992) was the FIRST EVER full length Australian hip-hop album. Not only this, but they were the first crew to embark on a National tour; the first Australian hip-hop act to hit international charts via Europe; and the first Australian hip-hop group to appear on an International release (Bomb Worldwide, 1995). Their hit single "A.U.S.T" was the first Australian hip-hop film clip to be aired nationally on Video Hits and Rage and featured many local and interstate crews. It was also the first anthem for the Australian Hip Hop community- 'nuff said!
Fast track to 15 years later and after several successful albums under various guises (Celsius and Killawattz) as well as side projects such as Basic Equipment and One Leg, Def Wish, Die-C and Sereck have 're-U-knighted' and returned as DEF WISH CAST. Their mission is simple: to install and protect the future of the Australian B-Boy!
