Luke Slater, the UK's mercurial techno protagonist returns with an explosive four tracker of electro-fused beats and tech-know how, all propelled by his own vocals leading the charge in what is now a fully functioning live five piece band. With gigs at Monegros (Spain), Dour Festival (Belgium) and Fabric (London) all ready under their belt the all new Luke Slater live experience is primed and ready to detonate clubs and venues the world over.
Mote-Evolver is Luke's own new digital download and limited vinyl label, established in the spring of this year with a brand new Planetary Assault release in the shape of 'Deep Heet Vol.1'. An underground project in line with this DJ's infamous appeal on the techno scene, Mote-Evolver can be seen as a natural progression, or evolvement from Slater's live work, hence the name. An industry first, all downloadable tracks will offer a true insight into the artists mind and come without the need for bloated post production. As such, the ultimate judge of any music on the Mote-Evolver site is no longer the record company but the consumer. As Luke himself qualifies, "essentially this is single pass production where the barriers between the artist and the consumer are removed and the strength of the artists work is tested directly by the fan base."
Starting off with lead track 'Head Converter' Luke gets up behind the mike with a bomb blast of electro and drums hailing his new bands direction. 'I'm Going Up' keeps the flow with more live percussion and vox whilst 'She Showed Me Heaven' drops the tempo a few notches whilst retaining the electro-funk blueprint and finally 'Something About You' kicks things to a crescendo with guitars and a driving bass playing off Luke's lyrical delivery.
As Luke says of his new sound, direction and live band. "Its taken me a long time to get something out under my own name. I took some time away from putting records out as I was moving around a lot and other things and I set up mote-evolver, but I wanted the next record I did to really be what I'm thinking now and not what I did before, I wanted to move forward from 'Alright on Top' but not back to 'Freek Funk'. I'm really into my live show at the moment and we did some great festival gigs in the summer and I want Luke Slater releases to be more attached to the live side of things so what you hear on the record is what you get in the show. I love playing live with the full band."
The next release on Mote-Evolver will be from Luke's 7th Plain alias with a movement from the album 'Here' which was composed for next year's 'Staatsballet Berlin' co-production with Berghain, entitled 'Shut Up and Dance Updated'.
