NazB calls for all rap artists to get together to speak out against knives and guns

The internationally renowned Rapper, NazB is coming to the UK this July to campaign for an end to knife and gun crime on the street.  He believes that rappers have a unique role to play in stopping youngsters carrying knives and guns.  He is appealing to fellow rap stars to support the cause.

NazB is spreading the message through his gigs at the clubs in London and through the TalentGold website.

NazB says "Rappers have had a bad press like they are supposed to think it's cool to carry weapons.  Not true.  We love the kids and don't want to see them getting into real trouble.  We think that the kids will listen to what we say because they respect us.  So I say to all you kids out there - don't carry knives or guns.  If you get into trouble you will hurt others and will suffer for the rest of your life.  Don't do it".
Susan Carter, Creative Director at TalentGold, put it like this "We are delighted to support NazB's campaign both because we think he is a great artist and because he is standing up for making life better for the kids."

NazB knows what he is talking about.  His story is one that he hopes will inspire the kids in the community.  NazB is a genuine rapper who has the background that makes his rap so real. This is no middle-class black guy. NazB was born into grinding poverty in Nigeria. As a youngster he lived on the streets of the poorest countries in Africa. Yet his is a message of hope.  He wants to tell the kids of today "If I can make it, so can you."

NazB explained that as a youngster he lived on the streets of Ghana, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, Ivory Coast, and Surinam. Crime and drugs were all around him as he struggled to survive in the world.  Now he is successful and, he hopes, an inspiration to young kids everywhere.  He has shown that poverty does not have to be a blockage to success.

About NazB
NazB is taking the world by storm with his brand of new-school hip-hop with an international message.

NazB has travel round the world and turning the volume up everywhere he goes. Currently hailing from Zurich Switzerland, He was born in Nigeria, and lived on the streets of Ghana, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, Ivory Coast, Surinam, Brazil

As a young boy being raised on the streets of Nigeria, Michael gained a reputation of having incredible talent in the art of rap.  He soon began to demonstrate his skills anywhere there was a listening ear.  His persistence and perseverance eventually gained him the nickname Nazodobas, which eventually evolved into NazB and became his rapper alias, a name of a respected old-time Nigerian hustler.  The name stuck.

In his early teens, he began performing at local clubs and slowly building a loyal audience.  He soon sadly realized that he was unable to gain the support of his beloved parents, so at the age of 18, he made the difficult decision to leave home and pursue his dream on his own.

The first couple of years were rather difficult for this young artist.  NazB found himself in situations that occasionally led him to petty crimes in order to pay for bare necessities.  The constant struggle and strife was able to build the tower of resilience that eventually helped him complete his debut album.  He proudly named it, Money in the Game and released it independently.  Excited by his new project and level of potential, he quickly took his message on the road.  He performed his brand of international new-school hip-hop at venues in various countries such as Brazil, South Africa, Ivory Coast, The Netherlands, UK, Germany, Nigeria and local Switzerland clubs.  In turn, the audiences devoured it as if it were a delicious meal that can also fill up the soul.

In 2006, NazBs debut album had been carefully crafted using top-notch beats that were intricately fused with American and European ingredients alike.  Recorded entirely in Switzerland, his album combined these refreshing selections of instrumentation with his expressive lyrical content.  It was the clever combination of the two (music and lyrics) that then enabled him to openly illustrate his personal story of pain and progress.  His first single was entitled Superfly.  It quickly gained him major Radio/TV exposure and was recognized as number one on Robo Clip SF2 Television in Switzerland as well as on the very popular, Canadian Music Television.

"This album tells the story of my life and my pain," NazB explains.  That it does.  Themes explore various topics such as love, poverty, racism, and religious discrimination.  Stylistically, he drew influences from some of the most respected hip-hop legends of his time including 2Pac, Nas, Dr. Dre, and the Notorious BIG.  Yet and still, his style is one very unique to himself.  NazB has developed a distinctive sound that blends funky rhythms, heavy-bass grooves, and even elements of his African roots.  "I play music because I love it, he clarifies.  I feel like it's something I can offer to the world! I want the world to know that I believe in peace and having faith in something bigger than ourselves."

NazB recently released two new singles, "Around the World" and Biko Biko and has also signed a deal with Iris Distribution to ensure that his future projects will be delivered more globally.  While having a well-received album and experiencing the world is definitely a dream come true for this humble rapper, with his heart being set on finding something deeper, we can rest assured that we have not yet heard the last of him.  Stay tuned!
