After a long hiatus, Jeff Danos aka TESTUBE returns from the outer limits of electro with the Covert EP, an intriguing approach at vocal-driven "experimental pop". Intermittently composting gritty abstract rhythms and industrial glitch sampling into a slightly more accessible framework of dark electro-pop, the Covert EP shows the act moving into a new direction for 2008 and serves as an appropriate teaser for the upcoming TESTUBE full length tentatively titled Off Purpose.
The 5-track EP is available as a FREE high quality (320kbps) download with artwork, and includes four new songs and a thumping club-friendly "treatment" remix for the dancefloor. This is the first release from TESTUBE on the newly formed GLIM RECORDS - an atypical promotion machine co-created by Jeff Danos and Jonathan Chalker (LOWHERO.DLL).

In addition to the free digital EP, an extended 10-track EP is available for purchase, and includes stunning remixes from R010R, Digital Dirt Heads, Type001, LowHero.DLL, and Ptyl. Each remix pushes the new sound of TESTUBE into a different paradigm, while not completely abandoning the intentions of the originals. As a result, there's a little something here for everyone.
"All of the remixers did a phenomenal job," commented Jeff Danos, "and I think that the diverse styles make this extended EP sound more like a robust compilation of original acts than just a handful of remixes. When you hear the DIGITAL DIRT HEADS remix, courtesy of Justin Lassen, you'll think that Beefcake has been resurrected from the dead and sprouted wings. R010R will make your ears bleed (and your boots stomp) with his intense powernoise delivery, while LOWHERO.DLL takes the fleeting pop structure of the original and polishes it into a smooth dish of catchy electropop. The Israeli anomaly PTYL serves up a crunchy spatial revision, and TYPE001 rounds things off with a moody introspective approach that borders on darkwave bliss. I am very excited at how this EP turned out, and I hope that some listeners will opt for the 10-track extended EP so that they can get their ears wrapped around these stunning bonus remixes."
