UK folk singer John Smith tours Australia for the first time in December/January, playing at Woodford and Cygnet Folk Festivals alongside headline shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.Widely regarded as one of the UK's finest guitar players, Smith's latest album Great Lakes has also seen him recognised as one of the most exciting voices in the new British folk scene. Enter The Protesters.The Protesters are a product of their environment reacting against a new wave of social conservatism. Their set is a powerful collection of originals that reflect the political tensions in our society. The aim of the music is to heal with a dose of reggae music in all it's forms. Getting people to dance together and make them believe 'there is a change comin..'Vocalist, Pat Powell delivers the lyrics with urban reality, complemented by funky bass lines and vintage horns, accompanied by a well fat skank!The Protesters give the audience roots reggae music and positive vibrations all round!

London based Jo Quail plays a bespoke electric cello combining traditional playing methods with extended technique to create rich orchestration, and percussive sounds added to create majestic soundscapes. Each performance is a journey, an invitation to explore a musical landscape that Jo creates fearlessly from her interaction with the cello. Jo may include Threnody by Peter Sculthorpe as a mark of respect for one of her main influences.

UK folk singer John Smith tours Australia for the first time in December/January, playing at Woodford and Cygnet Folk Festivals alongside headline shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.Widely regarded as one of the UK's finest guitar players, Smith's latest album Great Lakes has also seen him recognised as one of the most exciting voices in the new British folk scene. Called "brilliant" by MOJO Magazine and "spellbinding" by Time Out, Great Lakes features beautifully crafted songs, lush production and effortlessly captivating delivery. The success of Great Lakes has taken Smith's career to a new level internationally, touring North America, Europe and Australia in 2014, and this month performing his biggest headline show to date at the 2000 capacity Shepherd's Bush Empire in London. Their set is a powerful collection of originals that reflect the political tensions in our society. The aim of the music is to heal with a dose of reggae music in all it's forms. London based Jo Quail plays a bespoke electric cello combining traditional playing methods with extended technique to create rich orchestration, and percussive sounds added to create majestic soundscapes. Each performance is a journey, an invitation to explore a musical landscape that Jo creates fearlessly from her interaction with the cello. Jo may include Threnody by Peter Sculthorpe as a mark of respect for one of her main influences.
