Over the last six years, SPRACI has developed into a leading Internet site for information on parties, clubs, DJs, and pretty much anything to do with dance music and the industry that revolves around it. Now it is going international with sections for many countries worldwide HISTORY SPRACI started in 1994 as an email-based mailing list (Originally called "MDA Info") by Michael MD, who can also be heard DJing at various events Around Sydney, Australia. Later that year it became a Website at first focussing mainly on Sydney events, DJ profiles, etc. In 1996 it was moved to a bigger server as it was expanding. In 1998 new sections for interstate cities (Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, etc) were added. 1999 saw the creation of index generated listings, "SPRACI WORLD" and numerous overseas sections. The SPRACI team has now also grown in number to assist the continued growth of the site. The site has now grown to a point where it generates about a million hits per month, translating into about 100,000 individual visits or user sessions monthly - that is over 3000 user sessions per DAY) and provides sections for most countries worldwide. WHAT'S ON - EVENTS GUIDE The focus and genesis of the site is the free events listings, or "What's On". This is the most comprehensive guide to dance events of all types and attracts repeat visits from Internet-savvy party-goers from many cities. The What's On is also used by radio stations, other web sites, promoters and even the press, in order to keep track of goings-on, plan dates for events, and inform the wider community through other mediums. ONLINE COMMUNITY There are lots of "Message Boards" on the site catering to party and record reviews, discussion of upcoming events, as well as general discussion. Other services include Profiles for Artists/DJs/Labels/Organisations, Personals and more. |
