Launderd Beats

Launderd Beats is a Brisbane hip hop compilation, launching the label, Launderd Beats, put together by Onioncak and DCE. Most of the material on the CD was produced between 2001-2003 and after much deliberation the label owners decided to finally throw it out there - `better in your ear than sittin on the hard drive`. international festival of radical communication

memefest 2004

Memefest, the international festival of radical communications, invites undergraduate and graduate students in communications studies and sociology to look back to the dawn of the Information Age and respond to the 1993 article, `Cyberwar is Coming.` Penned by John Arquilla and David Ronfeldt for the RAND Corporation, this eerily prophetic essay made predictions about how information would be used to sway public opinion, pressure governments and corporations, and even wage war. Memefest is looking for `Ten Years Later` articles that address Arquila and Ronfeldt`s predictions and look at how concepts such as Netwar and Cyberwar have manifested politically and culturally. Entries will be judged by an internationa

I bought cook books for my friends - Vegan recipies with recommended soundtrack to cook along to and witty little commentaries. it's a cool book - one of my friends who's just moved to melb wrote it so also a good way to support her too. the book is called "Rock'n'Roll Vegan - slaughter-free recipies forpop-cultural revolutionaries" by Neriman Kemal.

dancehall wtf is it,, ??

I think the Reggae Broadcast guys were playing some last night at their party - dub day afternoon 4. you're likely to hear it mixed in with ska, reggae, dub etc. those sounds used to be popular in bris in late 80s/early 90s, this crew is the only one I know of playing it in bris regularly (though I'm sure there must be more out there I don't know about) check it out sometime.. http://www.rhythmcollision.live.com.au is their site but it seems to be down (live.com.au has been down for a few weeks) ht

TOTEM 1 : A PUBLIC COMMUNITY ART PROJECT

This Wednesday - October 15th marks the 50 year anniversary of 'totem 1' - the first full scale atomic bomb detonated at Emu Fields in South Australia as part of the British Government's nuclear weapons testing program. To help mark this important anniversary the Melbourne Kungkas have initiated a Community Art Project titled 'TOTEM 1' to be opened this Wednesday. 'TOTEM 1' art project is a diverse collection of paintings, drawings, digital works and sculpture. Art work is being exhibited in a series of public spaces on the streets, laneways and underpasses of the Melbourne CBD - bringing much neede

was Jen-E playing at transformers? I thought she started after it had closed.. more around sex shop time but it's all a blur now. I thought we'd gone to this little room above a run-down building across the road from where monastery is now..in that block. it was really just a corridor with a small space to each side, djs in one corner and really really dark - felt like the place was ready to be demolished even then(I don't know if it's still there) to catch this chick dj play her first set - and she played

Re: Argon One QuiZ--->>.

I only remember parts of it- the drive down to the coast was fun in my sister's boyfriend's 4wd. met up with people in the carpark. the park was closed to the public. everyone had to catch the skylift thing across to the other side of the park and make their way to the top of the castle between the flume ride. I seem to remember some people went on the waterslide cos they'd just opened (though I could have this bit mixed up with another time we went). the djs were setup at the rear I think. I just rem

AndyT, u must have the best news clippings & flyer collection - u should scan them & upload. I'd love to see them! some of the libraries might be interested too for the ephemeral collections(sp) - the sydney library keeps things like that in their collection so future generations can see what happened in local culture in the past.
