Assman
DJ Assman kickin' arse in Newcastle
Usually plays at: In and around Newcastle as far as Taree RSL, Singleton and Gosford Has played at: The Z-FM danceparties.
Style of music: Commercial Dance and R&B, progressing to trance
Preferred Vibe : A happy, enthusiastic crowd that simply loves the music and becomes carried by its pulse alone. They know and appreciate excellent mixing when its heard. The only time anyone leaves the floor is for the loo or to fill up on depleted electrolytes!
Favourite Moments: My first program on Z-FM in Newcastle in March last year-total control.(yet still shitting bricks!)
In The Future: Continuing to DJ as something that I'm good at and do simply for the exhilaration of it and keeping up to date with the latest tunes. Composing songs is something else I can foresee.
Social Comments: I believe that the dance culture can go further to present itself as an uplifting experience (without drugs) with positive messages as there is a lot of miserable music out there. With the success of fledgling stations such as Wild FM, it is clear that a market exists. The Government must encourage better competition amongst radio stations, and stop pandering to the demands of those with vested intersts.
Comments: The DJ has to care about his/her gig. Too often, I've seen DJs who are simply going through the motions, with the same playlist week in and week out, simply doing it as a regular, mundane 'job', having lost their creativity along the way.
