"Toyfriend Music" is a digital record label based in Odessa, Ukraine.

Our aim is to bring hi quality electro & techno crossover stuff from worldwide producers varying from groovy tech-house, groovy and funky techno to electro-techno.

The label catalogue is divided in two parts: regular releases from worldwide techno producers ("Toyfriend") and set of special releases ("Toyfriend Special").

First regular release on Toyfriend Music comes from French electro & techno artists Millimetric & Yannick Baudino (Human Body). This very strong duo appears on Toyfriend with something special called 'Kabricot';.

Rave activist since the beginning, Yannick Baudino started his artistic carrier in 1997. He sat up a live act with Ginos's with the name Human Body, a mix of techno, house and electro. They produced a large amount of EPs, made a European tour and received a warm welcome each time they played.

This morning, EFF Senior Staff Attorney Lee Tien testified in a Senate hearing on laptop searches and other privacy violations faced by Americans at the U.S. border. Lee's testimony [PDF] outlined the dangers of random and invasive searches of travelers' digital devices, and urged more congressional investigation and oversight. Today's hearing comes as Americans are increasingly complaining about how the Department of Homeland Security searches laptops, cell phones, and other digital devices as they come home from overseas travel. Agents often confiscate the devices, copy the contents, and sometimes even provide a copy of the data to the Department of Justice -- even when the traveler is not suspected of criminal activity. A company called Seer Systems has a patent on a system for joining different musical data types together in a file, distributing them over the internet, and then playing that file. We are especially interested in prior art relating to downloading and playing parts of "musical work files" in real time. Washington, D.C. - Privacy rights and the rule of law took a serious blow today when the House of Representatives passed blanket retroactive immunity for phone companies that participated in the president's warrantless surveillance program. The FISA Amendments Act, H.R. 6304, which House Leadership rushed to the floor today after its introduction yesterday, passed by a vote of 293 to 129. The Senate is expected to vote on the bill next week. The bill was touted as a bipartisan "compromise" on the issues of electronic surveillance and immunity. But in fact it requires dismissal of lawsuits against companies like AT&T that participated in the program as long as the companies received a piece of paper from the government indicating that the surveillance had been authorized by the president and was determined to be lawful. "Immunity for telecom giants that secretly assisted in the NSA's warrantless surveillance undermines the rule of law and the privacy of every American," said EFF Senior Staff Attorney Kevin Ban

San Francisco - The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and a coalition of consumer and industry groups have asked a judge to grant a new trial to Jammie Thomas, who was hit with a $222,000 judgment in a file-sharing lawsuit based in part on the recording industry's bogus "making available" theory. Thomas' trial and the staggering financial penalty made headlines around the world. In the case, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) sought to hold Thomas liable for unauthorized distribution of digital music over the Internet without having to prove that anyone actually downloaded songs from her. The RIAA argued that simply making the songs available in a shared folder on her computer was enough to impose penalties, and a jury found Thomas liable for $220,000 in October of 2007. But earlier this year, the judge in the case said he was concerned that he might have made a mistake when he followed the RIAA's reasoning in his jury instructions and asked for more briefing on whether Thomas deserved a

Now the bill moves to the Senate. Passing it would amount to a Congressional seal of approval on illegal surveillance. The bill would destroy our best chance for a judicial ruling on whether the President can grant corporations permission to break the law with impunity. Some have called the bill a balanced compromise between extremes, but this is pure spin. In reality, it's nothing less than a complete cave to the phone companies' and White House's demands. By passing the FISA Amendments Act (293-129, with 105 Democrats in favor), they voted to give this lame duck President an undeserved parting gift by passing immunity for telcoms that helped the President violate the Constitution by participating in the NSA's massive and illegal spying program. While Speaker Pelosi and President Bush describe it as a "balanced bill" with "bipartisan support," the millions of Americans whose privacy rights have been violated by the President's illegal spying program seem to have been left out of the equation. Senator Bond's gloating statement to the New York Times showed the true picture: "I think the White House got a better deal than even they had hoped to get." The Washington Post wrote that the bill "hands President Bush one of the last major legislative victories he is likely to achieve." Last April, Microsoft met with criticism when it announced that it would deactivate all music purchased from MSN Music. Customers rightly protested that the decision to pull the plug on the Digital Rights Management (DRM) servers that allow MSN Music customers to reauthorize music files would render their purchases useless At the time, EFF announced an open letter to Microsoft, urging them to make things right with their customers by giving refunds or replacing DRM-crippled music, and by avoiding use of DRM in the future. Now, Microsoft has responded to their customers concerns with a letter to customers that promises that the earlier deadline of August, 2008 will be not be enforced. Instead, the company will wait until 2011 to make a determination. After careful consideration, the letter reads, Microsoft has decided to continue to support the authorization of new computers and devices, and delivery of new license keys for MSN Music customers through at least the end of 2011. The dangerous and unconstitutional FISA bill coming up before the House Friday appears to have support, with Speaker Pelosi describing it as a "balanced bill". The bill is far from balanced when it comes to immunity for telecoms, as the bill was written to guarantee dismissal -- a fact the Speaker's Republican colleagues are quite up front about: House Minority Whip Roy Blunt, R-Mo., and Sen. Christopher Bond, R-Mo., said the only result that could occur from a court review of the lawsuits against the companies would be that plaintiffs would be prevented from pursuing the cases. ...
