London's New Year's Day Parade - One of the World's great street spectaculars - get's 2012 off to the best possible start celebrating the Capital's Olympic year and Her Majesty The Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Kite Runner From Afghanistan, War Horse, 17 American Marching Bands, Dozens of London's Boroughs More than 8,000 performers from numerous nations will give London a real lift with this turn-of-year tradition. The free, family orientated event is expected to attract as many as 500,000 spectators on to the streets of the West End of London on January 1st. Now in its 26th year the parade is a magical mix of the best of British and a cornucopia of cultural performance. More than twenty London boroughs have submitted entries and will be competing for a huge prize pot for their mayors' chosen charities.
