The grand finale, The Australian finals of the 2008 DMC World DJ Championship, was held this Saturday 6th September at Melbourne's Hi Fi Bar. Proudly presented by TDK Life On Record, DMC Australia and supported by Dub Clothing and Ortofon, champion DJs from six states flew in to take on reigning 2-time Australian champion DJ Perplex.

After a massive build up, the stage was set for a high level of competition and the DJ talent on display didn't disappoint.

Victoria's B.Two took out 3rd place with 12 points winning a $500 voucher from TDK Life On Record, a copy of Ableton Live software, Torq slipmats, DMC DVDs, Serato vinyl, and DUB clothing.

Western Australian DJ Zeke took out 2nd Place, WA's highest ever finish, with 15 points winning a $700 voucher from TDK Life On Record, a copy of Serato Scratch Live, a copy of Reason production software, DMC DVDs and clothing from Ortofon and DUB.

In the end though, experience and superior skills won out as two times Australian champion DJ Perplex stepped up

Music From The Other Side is the soundtrack for a dance performance by Lisbon's Quorum Ballet. The Other Side's principal objective is to fuse the style and art of the dance of Lisbon and New York. The work is the collaboration of choreographers Daniel Cardoso, Jonathan Hollander and Thaddeus Davis, artistic directors of Quorum Ballet, Battery Dance Company and Wideman/Davis Dance, respectively. Dark, moody, erotic and aggressive, it explores the theme of oppression, which has always been an issue for the people on both sides of the Atlantic. 2008 LP Say It Straight

Experimental rock band The What 4 has delivered their debut full-length album Say It Straight. With such diverse sounds on the one release, it's no wonder they have been busy playing and getting some air time on Three D Radio. The What 4 are Jo Herbert on guitar and vocals, Frank Usmiani on bass, Wil Martin on drums and Paul Handley on synthesizers. Say It Straight is full of mind blowing sounds and effects, coming together nicely to produce a very stable record.

Rolling bass starts 'Science Fiction' which kicks the album into gear, and already it's into blazing synth and a guitar lick that tops this song off nicely. In 'Highbrow' the build up is worth the wait for the swelling, throbbing heart of the song. It's here you get the first taste of Herbert's womanly vocals and they are matured and somewhat sultry.

In case you're not aware of Steve's work, Zen Paradox was established in 1991 by Steve Law as a solo outlet for his more techno-oriented electronic music work. Steve had previously been a member of the groups Foil and Guild of Fire, and is a current member of Black Cab and High Pass Filter. This is DJ Hi-Shock's debut release on the Hypnotic Room label. Usually he is known to produce hard and minimal techno but this time around Hi-Shock experiments with a more club oriented sound and delivers three excellent takes of the dancefloor friendly "Discotheque".

There is a bit of everything here from bouncy techno, a bit of breaks, electro, hard house, funky tech-house and even some classic trance thrown in.

The sound is big and the promo release has been receiving terrific dancefloor response from clubbers. Enjoy and play it out loud!
