Event
Friday 2nd March 2012

The glorious surrounds of Sydney Harbour, stimulating conversation, a gentle leewards zephyr and Kitty Glitter, Harry K, PowerPuma + DJ Booth and more. This is the first time the venue has been used for a gay party! Kitty Glitter, Harry K, PowerPuma, DJ Booth Before you plunge headlong into the Hieronymus-Bosch-with-sequins landscape of Mardi Gras, why not gird your figurative loins (or your literal ones) with a little civility? A day-time-into-night cocktail party on Cockatoo Island. Which, Im sure, confirms your suspicion that two cocks are always better than one.

The glorious surrounds of Sydney Harbour, stimulating conversation, a gentle leewards zephyr and Kitty Glitter, Harry K, PowerPuma + DJ Booth and more straight up killing it on the decks. This will be the first time the venue has been used for a gay party!

After 40 years of hard work, Phil is finally receiving Australian and worldwide recognition as one of our finest musical talents

His versatility is well known and acknowledged - obvious from the shows, and the musicians he has

performed alongside, from Jazz - James Morrison, Don Burrows to big-band - Ed Wilson, the Royal Military College Band, to Country - Slim Dusty, Lee Kernaghan, Dolly Parton, to rock and blues - Jimmy Barnes, Roy Buchanan,

Don Walker, John Farnham and Ian Moss.

Phil's musical roots stem back to the 50's, 60's and 70's and his style has largely been defined by the classic guitar sounds of this era. His preference for the "instrumental tunes that defined the sound of the electric guitar when it was a new instrument". This is evident on his solo albums KAKADU SUNRISE and IN THE SHADOW OF THE BEATLES which contains some blistering country rock and blues as well as more than a nod to his SHADOWS roots, the joint EMMANUEL BROS. album TERRA FIRMA and also in his live work which incl

Join Tim and the band as they bring you a show rich in the art of gentle, beautiful songs.

With a live show that is breezy and nostalgic, characterised by skilful instrumental restraint and gentle sailing melodies, Tim Guy will play the Palais this April following the release of his fourth album.

A true drifter, he has roots across Eastern Australia, Papua New Guinea and more recently New Zealand, and will visit scattered venues up the eastern seaboard with his distinctive sound and his band in tow, telling stories through melody, harmony and a craftsman's way with words.

With a collaboration-rich history, Tim's previous albums include 2004's alt-country release Blazey, and 2007's low-fi gem Hummabyes, which were both received to high acclaim on the NZ music scene and featured many prominent guest musicians - notably Bic Runga, who went on to produce Blazey on her own label. The much celebrated radio-friendly album Big World was released in 2010 and accompanied by a multi-city European tour.
